Faith is important.

Everyone puts their faith somewhere or in something.

Seems impossible to not believe in something says the agnostic to the atheist but I just can't see it yet.

Fighting. I threw my last punch years ago. Hit a wall as a stupid kid and shattered my right hand badly - had two surgeries to fix what was left. Right index finger permanently stuck in a permanent trigger finger. Arthritis set in and there's no joy in Mudville anymore.

But I think the Universe did me a favor otherwise I would've continued and probably had an arrest record for assault. Short of self defense I can't imagine getting into a physical altercation.

Faith is important to me because it is all I got. I have faith that this world is temporary and at the end of my life here I'll go somewhere else that is better. Whether that next place is for eternity or just another lifetime I don't know, but I need to believe in it like I need air and water. Because, there is nothing in this current life on Planet Earth that can substitute for it. As much as I love my wife and daughter, and would gladly trade my life so they could go on living if needed, they aren't something I can put my faith and hope into. Same for family, friends, and pets. Because they are the same thing as me, creatures dropped into a bizarre place called Earth to live and accomplish some things, hopefully leaving it in slightly better condition than when we arrived. They can't save me, nor can I save them.

I need to find the next world, and live in anticipation for it during my time in this world. Faith is the only way towards that goal that I can see.
