I believe they have been living in motel rooms. But it's just something I think is true. I certainly acknowledge you can never be sure of anything Gene Steinberg claims.
The whole story as alleged is pretty dumbfounding:
They were thrown out of an expensive apartment for not paying the rent. They go to a motel, and rent a storage space. (Keep in mind, they did this one other time last year, and managed to get into an apartment, but did not last there long - yes, this was the second eviction and relocation to a motel of 2018 for them.)
Gene proceeds to beg for money almost daily, claims he's going to debut two new web stores, and supposedly starts driving more for Uber and Lyft. Barbara does, well, nothing we know about.
After seven months only one of the web stores has materialized and it looks unlikely to bring in much money. The Steinbergs are about to relocate to their fourth motel. Gene acknowledges they are not staying in the cheapest motels.
In his emails, Gene simultaneously claims he is paying the motel for a day's stay at a time, and stating he can barely manage to do that, but that he also is trying to save for a move to a new apartment, yet not making much progress.
The emails being intended to bring in sympathy money naturally Gene whines his head off about his circumstances in each one, and yet all of his actions seem geared to at best maintain his status quo.
Frankly I'm surprised given his claims that they're still managing to cling to a motel room (and supposedly, also the storage space).
The whole thing is just miserable if true, and cannot end well.
My own opinion though, Gene is not an honest person. So who knows.

• Any comments on the unexpected acceleration out of the solar system of the interstellar object ʻOumuamua ?
• Do you think that the common factors between various paranormal/ufo phenomena such as invisibility, shape shifting, odd EM effects, Oz factor,, and so on are simply coincidental, or that it lends credence to the idea that a common causal factor may be behind most of it?

the podcast is now so bad that they have to provide guest, host and audience/questions all by themselves

I'm also wondering how long it will be until Gene announces that Randall will be taking an extended sabbatical for "personal reasons" (nothing to do with his reputation being stained by association with Gene) and TDSR will replace him completely.

I thought about blocking his emails, but I get some sort of perverse pleasure seeing what "disaster" strikes next. I'm waiting for him to throw in that he has become a "targeted individual".
He would make a lot more money flying a sign off the interstate, but I don't think he'd do it.

I would actually love a show like Hoarders about people like schemey (Grifters?) but unlike hoarding fraudulent begging and grifting are not really legal so I doubt it could ever be made without incriminating the people involved.

Having been married to someone who IS bordeline for 22 years, I have to agree and disagree. Borderline Personality disorder is hard to diagnose and usually associated with other problems such as depression and bipolar disorder. Usually people with BPD will occasionally do some crazy dangerous stuff that will put them in dangerous situations. It involves pushing away loved ones, then reeling them back in, "I love you, I can't live without you. And then, Get the bell out of my life, I hate you"!
Now, my wife works her ASS off with therapy and medication and I've learned to live with the occasional outbursts and stuff because I know where it's coming from.
Gene sounds more like someone with extreme narcissistic entitlement issues. I'm sure some manic and or schizophrenic issues are involved .
Or he could be the biggest POS on the planet.

Thanks, Spader. I know that diagnosis is a tough one, and it's in really murky territory. Actual doctors have trouble sorting it out. It could simply be that Gene is just a giant asshole. That fits as well as anything, I suppose.

Wish we could get the phone number for his hotel, if indeed he is in a hotel. The stories we could offer them. Fraud, casinos, court, begging.. Management need to know these things if residents stay there for months on end. And Teddy Bear will come into somehow too. He'll be unloading his butt on the carpet at night and you can be sure Gene and Barb dont want to clean it up.
