Hudson Valley UFO sightings

Hey, who's Vinny the expert and what exactly is API? Their case files are underwhelming.

On another note, got out of my truck the other night and saw a brilliant red/white something moving pretty fast. About the width of my thumb at arms length so 1 degree of arc. Traversed the span of my hand - about 10 degrees I think - in two seconds. No idea about the altitude but it was above the moderate cloud layer. If I could have looked at it with Skyview it might have identified something in orbit; it'll show you ISS. Weird, but just a light in the sky.

thought about that. smaller than my thumb. started thinking about what size it must be and my head started to hurt.

Humans will never understand what this person was really looking at. Little did he know, they opened up an entire portal to another universe right in front of them. it wasnt lights that he saw they were stars.

Was copy written by iml527. Those beings have the power, the knowledge and gift to open up a portal to another galaxy. What the human saw was not lights they were stars.

I actually knew a part time cop from Kent. He quit after a pulling over a drunk one night who then tried to grab his handgun which resulted in a life and death struggle rolling around on Rt.52. A passing motorist pulled over and helped. I hope they both gave him a good solid beat down after that.

But I digress.

red-green-white lights in a boomerang shape viewed from Kent on the edge of the valley rim overlooking a huge military airbase and two civilian airports.

I have absolutely no doubt they were stars and reflected the opening of an interdimensional portal. I saw the thing myself and it was damned weird. My belt buckle became permanently magnetized and I never once misplaced my house keys again. The local dairy farmers reported that none of their cows gave milk the next day and real estate prices were jacked up instantly in a way nobody could explain except to say they expected the neighborhood to improve real soon. The hair fell off the left side of my dog and he spent the rest of his life turning in circles so as to hide it. I watched him from the second story window once and saw he was tracing a complex mathematical pattern which, if I were to reveal would shatter the underpinnings of Reality. You though that Berenstein bear thing was bad, well let me tell you something brother. I hid this secret in a place where only the worthy can access it; it's in an Unobtainium Cylinder in the Basement of the Alamo.

I know this is an old thread but I saw a triangular object fly over us. It was well after a Huey Lewis and the News concert at the Orange County fairgrounds. We left the show and went to a higher point overlooking the local store parking lots (Lloyds, Shop-rite and I think a Rickels). Lots of people were up there as well. The craft came from the west, turned off its lights, the lights turned blue and flickered white and it just zipped away to the north.

There was a small article in the “Times -Herald Record” in the “around the region” section. The police blamed lights from the concert but it was well lafterward.

It stopped traffic. It was a very VERY odd feeling as well. Like it was scanning us all to the bone. It’s etched in my memory though. A LOT of people saw it.

I hope this helps your quest.

Older thread but the older guy that started it is still here :)

That's about 45 minutes west of me. I'll see if I can find any references to it - I am on the other side of the river and only checked the Poughkeepsie Journal archives. I'll see if the Times-Herald Record has online records available. never occurred to me honestly.

Seems Huey Lewis played at the Orange County Fairgrounds on July 18 1985. I haven't found archival access to that newspaper but am still looking.

The Times Herald Record had a small section called “around the region”. It was on page 7 or 8, it took up vertical space on the page. The write up was a few days to a week after the concert. That was the show though.
Of note I saw a similar object doing the same thing a few years earlier, but there were no witnesses. The Huey Lewis time there were dozens.

People who work at Stewart Airport have a lot to say. Almost all of them that I have met. They mostly say the same thing, triangular objects, white/blue lights. If you know anyone there you may be able to find something.

There were some triangular objects with body lights seen around that time in different places:

More triangle sightings around that time:

I've never seen a triangle shaped UFO around here but have seen aircraft lights that make it appear so. There are times when you catch conditions just right and things do not appear as you would normally expect.

Skeptic: Formation of planes:

I may have to actually go to a library to get that TH Record for 1985. I don't mind doing that but it'll be a bit before I get there.

The formation of the planes was exactly what I saw and what I spoke to a state trooper about the next day. It took me a minute after being startled but I did recognize what I was looking at plus I could hear a very faint drone of what was obviously engines. Not a Brian Dunning fan but that article is spot on: we all knew what we were looking at and so did the air traffic controllers at two airports.

The shocking stories are the ones that have survived outside the area - you start talking about that here and you'll get funny looks outside the Pine bush UFO festival. I attribute them to the guaranteed 'add ons' that arrive as witnesses to car accidents, etc. If most other people saw the car run over a horse then they probably won't take the guy claiming it was a zebra too seriously. I liken it to clowns. Put on a scary clown outfit and hang around on a dark street corner long enough to be noticed and suddenly everyone's seeing evil clowns and posting about it online.

I am not a pilot but know that aircraft have lots of lights on them. Airplane Lights: What Each Light Does (Red/Green, Strobe, Beacon) - Pilot Institute
It is absolutely possible to see something huge and slow moving with bright white lights on it that could even be boomerang shaped. We paid for them - they are C17s. You don't always see the red/green combo right away or hear it. I recall looking up once while on a dark lonely road and looked up to see what looked like an oil refinery. Pipes or some mechanical crap just hanging up there with soft lighting. I think it had it's landing gear down - they practice all sorts of approaches and SWF is only a couple of minutes away by air.

Pine Bush and the perpetuation of these reports reminds me of Gettysburg. I remember going there as a kid and much later as an adult and the topic naturally was the Civil War and the epic battle that was fought there. Now it's all about ghost hunting because of that one stupid TV program. Well OK, it's fun and brings in much needed tourism dollars but don't for a second start believing what the shop owners are telling you. They have a motive for keeping the stories going just like those recycling old UFO reports do.

Back in 85 they had C-5s and I thing only a handful.

What we saw was not an aircraft. It moved WAY too fast. I later became an aircraft mechanic in the USAF and never came across any aircraft with that pattern.

Later, especially in the Pine Bush/Circleville area people filmed what they thought were UFOs but what they filmed was American and Delta MD-88s flying into Stewart.

I have wondered about this and my other incident my entire life. It wasn’t what I saw but what I, and the small crowd around me felt. It was like being scanned to the bone. It was very invasive, but I didn’t feel violated. It was very strange.

I really hope the article is found. If I didn’t live 1500 miles away, I would certainly be at the Thrall Library in Middletown searching. That’s the main library in the area or was at the time.

"Scaramanga" over at Metabunk (who has his bleeding foot lodged in the mental door of the skeptics there), made a good point that I've argued before; witnesses can be pretty accurate in their reporting of what they saw, but their interpretation of what they saw is where the aliens creep in. Mundane events like rocket launches can be accurately remembered, described, and corroborated by multiple witnesses, who interpret the event as being so unusual, that it must be aliens.
But, the same holds true with truly anomalous cases as well. The descriptions from others who have seen the same objects / phenomenon that I have across time and place, independently described them (and sometimes visually rendered them) exactly as I did. Some of the accounts are almost verbatim.
When you see something really strange, you pay attention to it.

What we saw could have been anything, but what stuck with me, since it happened, was that feeling. And the only reason that I would have brought that up in conversation to anyone - at that time for fear of looking nuts was that it wasn’t only me. But as the thing flew over, at first it was going real slow, MUCH slower than any other aircraft that I saw and was much bigger. The lights were white and facing directly downwards and they were REAL bright. We were on a hill that overlooked the parking lots of several stores, literally in front of the Lloyd house (Lloyds was Walmart of the day but local and that was the owners big house on a hill). There was a nice size crowd, doing the same as is, just chilling with friends. Myself and those with me were NOT drinking or doing drugs.

The thing hovered over us and it felt like I was being scanned very very deep. The feeling stops and the white lights go out and these intense blue, almost purple lights go on, which were much more intense than anything I had seen back then. It raised up QUICK several thousand feet, but I could still see it and the blue lights, then it stopped, the blue lights went off and the white lights came on and it just zipped away.

As it’s hovering over us, a car with a black guy who is freaking out drove up and the guy is like, seriously crying. I was a teen and he was in his 40s or 50s. He’s freaking out saying things like “it making me all cold! it’s making me all cold!”. It hung there for about a full minute and he was just freaking. He was saying “thank God there are people here with me”.

Afterward myself and companions went to a diner with some others that were witnesses, now bonded for the night. I KNEW something freaking violated me in a way I had never felt before, but not in a bad way at all. One of the women who wasn’t with my group but was there and came to the diner said that she felt as though she had been raped, being a survivor of rape. Then I said what I said. Like I was being scanned. Then everyone said the same thing pretty much all at once It felt like we were being scanned. But when I said my piece I could tell everyone wanted to talk about it.

That feeling was unearthly. Again, I don’t know what it was, human, alien or from timuktu, I know what happened and was livid when the Record said the the Middletown cops or the Orange County Sheriffs office blamed the concert. The concert was well over by then.

That sounds like an amazing and of course unsettling experience. You capture that feeling of being scanned very well. Like something is looking right through your being. That it knows more about you than you do, kind of thing.
