Left-wing activist who founded banned Colorado Springs Antifa Twitter account is trans reporter and teacher accused of 'brainwashing' students and giving them kinky books​

The founder of a banned Antifa Twitter account which has encouraged violence against far-right activists is a military veteran and former teacher accused of 'brainwashing' students. Heidi Beedle, 38, has previously admitted founding the Colorado Spring Anti-Fascists profile and blogs, which critics say '[instructed] comrades to assault people'. Twitter banned the account last week as part of a crackdown on profiles accused of inciting violence. The group had posted the identities and addresses of alleged far right activists and encouraged violence against them. Beedle, a trans woman who is now a reporter at the Colorado Times Recorder, launched the account and blog several years ago while she was a teacher. She said she turned her back on the Antifa movement at the end of 2018 and hasn't had any access to the accounts since then. Beedle has said she came out as trans in around 2014 while she was a teacher, and the experience led her 'more and more into anti-fascist activism'.

US border towns are under increasing pressure as thousands of migrants spill across the Rio Grande in a last-ditch attempt to enter the country before Title 42 is lifted. Migrants are crowding around bus terminals and sleeping on carboard boxes on the streets of El Paso (inset) - and they are the lucky ones. William Sandigo, 45, (right) told DailyMail.com that he and his family, including his two-year-old granddaughter Katie, had rushed to cross the border before the policy expired. The family traveled from Nicaragua on a bus before crossing the Rio Grande, and spent 20 days in immigration centers across the US border. 'We knew we needed to come in before the military came in - like they have now,' he said. Maria Andrade, 35, travelled for three months on foot to reach Texas. The single mother is planning to travel to Colorado with her eight-year-old daughter after avoiding immigration authorities. 'We climbed mountains and went through rivers on our feet. I am very sad and scared for my daughter,' she said. Migrants who did not manage to evade detection faced off with National Guard troops and border patrols on Tuesday. The pandemic-era order was set to end at midnight – just four days before Christmas - after a previous legal challenge delayed the policy's old deadline of late May. The Supreme Court on Monday issued a temporary stay to keep the order in place, to which the Biden Administration responded - just before the Wednesday deadline - asking for it to be lifted but not until next week to ensure an 'orderly transition.'

ALL US flights are grounded until at least 9am EST after FAA system FAILS: White House says 'no evidence of cyberattack' behind computer failure that has left tens of thousands stranded​

A computer outage at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has resulted in delays to more than 3,500 flights across the United States, according to the flight tracking website FlightAware. The FAA said in a tweet that it was working on restoring its Notice to Air Missions System. 'The FAA is working to restore its Notice to Air Missions System,' the agency said in the message. 'We are performing final validation checks and repopulating the system now. Operations across the National Airspace System are affected. 'We will provide frequent updates as we make progress.' In an advisory, the FAA said its NOTAM (Notice to Air Missions) system had 'failed'. There was no immediate estimate for when it would be back, the website showed, though NOTAMs issued before the outage were still viewable. A second updated on Twitter from the FAA said some systems were beginning to come back online. The NOTAM system alerts pilots and other flight personnel about hazards or any changes to airport facility services and relevant procedures. There is a potential for widespread disruption because of the outage. All aircraft are required to route through the system, including commercial and military flights. As a result, the impact will likely be broader than just commercial airlines.

Top economists warn Americans that a severe recession IS coming despite Biden administration's attempts to play down risk of impending downturn ​

Leading economists are warning that a recession is coming in the near future, despite the Biden administration's attempts to downplay the risks. Lakshman Achuthan and Anirvan Banerji, cofounders of the Economic Cycle Research Institute — which determines recession dates for 22 global economies — say the United States is on track to face another recession like the one in 2008. They said in an op-ed for CNN that the Biden administration's efforts to quash an impending economic downturn have come too late. And even though the GDP grew in the last quarter of 2022 and the economy added more jobs , Achuthan and Banerji say that will soon change. The Economic Cycle Research Institute has been predicting a recession since last spring, and Achuthan and Banerji say that prediction has not changed despite the Federal Reserves' efforts to raise interest rates.

A man from the Caribbean island of Dominica says he survived 24 days lost at sea in a sailboat by eating ketchup before being rescued in Colombian waters.

Elvis Francois, 47, had the word 'help' carved on the hull of his sail boat when he was found 120 nautical miles northwest off of the Colombian coast. Francois said he saw other boats pass by and tried to flag them down, even lighting a fire on his vessel, but they did not see him.

It was only when a passing plane saw the reflection of his mirror and called the navy that Francois was able to be rescued.

'The final days, about the 15th of January, I saw a plane. I had a mirror. I was making some signals,' he said, describing how he angled the glass to catch the glare of the sun and draw attention.

'I had no food. There was only a bottle of ketchup that was on the boat, garlic powder and (bouillon cubes) Maggi. So I mixed it up with some water for me to survive 24 days in the sea,' Francois said in English in a video released by the Colombian Navy.

'The final days, about the 15th of January, I saw a plane. I had a mirror. I was making some signals,' he said, describing how he angled the glass to catch the glare of the sun and draw attention.

'They passed over the boat twice so I realized they saw me,' he continued. 'I am grateful for being alive today because of them.'
