NYPD is monitoring Telegram amid concerns racially motivated extremists are plotting to use new hacking device called Flipper Zero to attack energy grids

The NYPD and other law enforcement agencies across the country fear that a consumer hacking tool will be used by radical extremist groups to attack electrical substations, internal documents reveal.

A bulletin published by a law enforcement task force in South Dakota, obtained by the Daily Dot, indicates that police departments are monitoring extremist channels on the messaging platform Telegram for suspicious references to the Flipper Zero - a $169 'hacking' device.

The Flipper Zero can be used to open remote-controlled gates by emulating signals sent by nearby devices. Alternatively, it can send a variety of signals with the aim of transmitting the correct one by chance in what is referred to as a 'brute-force' attack.

Since its widespread release in 2022, dozens of videos have gone viral on social media showing the device being used to open gates, hotel room doors, and even hacking gas station price signs.

Oregon drivers begin pumping their own gas for the first time in 72 YEARS: Confused motorists turn to 'how-to' guides - while station attendants' union slams change as 'blatant cash grab'

Across the Beaver State, drivers took to social media to boast of pumping their own gas, while local new outlets published step-by-step instructions to help bewildered first-timers. The change came after Governor Tina Kotek signed a bill allowing people across the state to choose between having an attendant pump gas or doing it themselves. The law took immediate effect. 'Today was day one where we were allowed to pump our own gas, I was super excited to go and do this myself,' said TikTok user @pnw.bethany in a video (right) on Friday.

I had to show my wife how to pump gas because she never had to. If I needed the mass transit map she has inside her skull I'd look equally silly.

Moody's cuts credit ratings of 10 US banks, warns six more could face similar fate and assigns negative outlook to 11 others including Capitol One in blow to US financial system

Moody's cuts credit ratings of ten US banks and warns six more could face a similar fate -
Ten regional banks have had their credit ratings slashed by risk assessment firm Moody's - which warned it was considering downgrading a further six. Major lenders Bank of New York Mellon, U.S. Bancorp, State Street and Truist Financial, Cullen/Frost Bankers and Northern Trust are now under review, and the agency also assigned a negative outlook to 11 further banks, including major institutions Capital One and Citizens Financial. Shares in big US banks, such as Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase and Citigroup also fell - despite not being under Moody's review. Ana Arsov (main), managing director of financial institutions at Moody's said that there is no need for panic. 'What we're doing here is recognizing some headwinds - we're not saying that the banking system is broken,' she said. Moody's said higher rates have continued to decrease the value of assets owned by mid-size regional banks, leaving them exposed to drops in share prices if investors get spooked.

Usually you hear about dead people being issued checks, but the opposite can happen all too often.

Mortal sin: IRS wrongly declared thousands of taxpayers dead

The problem arose during the pandemic when taxpayers tried to get their checks, only to be told their accounts were locked because the IRS thought they were dead. Tens of thousands of accounts were deadlocked, the inspector general said, meaning the taxpayers not only didn’t receive their stimulus checks but were also blocked from filing tax returns or collecting refunds.

The inspector general originally flagged 77,868 accounts it said showed signs of being erroneously deadlocked as of Jan. 1, 2022. The IRS rechecked and concluded that 20,222 of them had to be unlocked. When the inspector general went back to update its numbers for 2022, it flagged 14,193 more accounts that may have been wrongly locked between Jan. 2 and Oct. 29 of that year.

Ms Meyer could not eat or sleep after the traumatizing hours-long ordeal.

So they want your money to flow into big foundations like Red Cross instead of giving it directly to the people.

Huge backlog of 200 ships are stuck trying to enter the Panama Canal as they wait WEEKS amid slowed traffic due to drought: Delays set to wipe $200M off profits and cause spike in US grocery and parcel prices

More than 200 ships are stuck on both sides of the Panama Canal after authorities capped the number of crossings because of a serious drought.

The large vessels, thought to be carrying millions of dollars worth of goods, are locked in a traffic jam with some waiting for weeks to cross.

Vessel-tracking data highlights the extent of the issue with hundreds of ships, mainly bulk cargo or gas carriers, seen waiting near entrances to the canal on the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.

The number of daily transits through the canal has been capped at 32 by water authorities in a bid to conserve water.

Panama is set to lose $200million in revenue from the delays and it could cause a spike in US grocery and parcel prices as extra fees are hiked on to shipping costs.

Business owner issues challenge to Democratic mayor as liberal policies leave city in 'unlivable' state

Gump's department store owner John Chachas called out Gavin Newsom in a full-page ad in San Francisco's lead paper

Gump's CEO John Chachas spoke with Fox News Digital about the full-page ad he bought in the San Francisco Chronicle calling out top Democrats including Mayor London Breed and California Gov. Gavin Newsom.

The owner of San Francisco's historic luxury department store is holding the feet of elected officials to the fire over the city's deteriorating conditions, leveling a threat to move his business elsewhere if nothing changes.

For over 165 years, Gump's was a popular stop for shoppers who visit the City by the Bay. But in a full-page ad in The San Francisco Chronicle, its CEO John Chachas called out top Democrats California Gov. Gavin Newsom, San Francisco Mayor London Breed and the city's Board of Supervisors, suggesting the upcoming holiday season may be its last.

"San Francisco now suffers from a ‘tyranny of the minority’ —behavior and actions of the few that jeopardize the livelihood of the many," Chachas wrote in the open letter that ran in the paper last week. "The ramifications of COVID policies advising people to abandon their offices are only beginning to be understood. Equally devastating have been a litany of destructive San Francisco strategies, including allowing the homeless to occupy our sidewalks, to openly distribute and use illegal drugs, to harass the public and to defile the city's streets."

"Such abject disregard for civilized conduct makes San Francisco unlivable for its residents, unsafe for our employees, and unwelcoming to visitors from around the world," he told the elected officials.

Wild Oakland video shows woman being dragged along ground in violent armed robbery before 15 more attacks in 48hrs - as business owner says 'it's like wartime Vietnam'

The shocking incident of violence unfolded this past Wednesday at 6:15 pm on International Boulevard, and left the unidentified woman with severe injuries, police investigating in the East Bay city said. Footage shows how the woman was run up on by men, who exit a car before removing several items from her person. During an ensuing struggle, the woman bravely hangs on - before being struck by one of the robbers' weapons. She is then seen falling to pavement presumably in agony, before being violently pulled across the floor by her purse as both men run her pockets. Both men remain at large, and the woman's condition as of Tuesday is unknown. It serves as just a small example of what's occurring across the city, which like its sister across the river, for the past few years has been plagued with higher crime than most other cities.

Bank of America CANCELS conservative Christian charity account that helps impoverished Ugandans amid allegations it 'disagrees with its religious views'

A 'debanking' row has broken out after an ultra-conservative Christian charity which provides necessities to Ugandan orphans had its account shut down by Bank of America. Memphis-based non-profit Indigenous Advance Ministeries has filed a complaint to the Tennessee Attorney-General's office over concerns their accounts were closed because the bank disagrees with its 'religious views.' The organization - which claims to have had a banking relationship with BofA since 2015 - purports pro-life and anti-same sex relationship values on its website. BofA firmly denies it 'debanked' the charity, telling DailyMail.com that 'religious beliefs are not a factor in any account-closing decision.' But campaigners are calling for greater transparency in how firms decide which accounts to shut down, adding cases of political and religious 'debanking' 'appear to be on the rise.'

In case no one knew about this one.

Kansas 98-year-old makes First Amendment stand as deputies raid home: 'Get out of my house!'

The raid drew national First Amendment concerns and, last Wednesday, Marion County Attorney Joel Ensey withdrew the search warrants and ordered Marion Police to return all seized items, finding no legal basis for the case against the paper or its staff.

"It is not a crime in America to be a reporter," Bernie Rhodes, an attorney for the Meyers and their newspaper, told Fox News Digital.

The raids on Meyer's home and the Record's newsroom came after reporters looked into allegations a local sweets shop owner named Kari Newell allegedly drove a car while her license was suspended for a prior DUI. The paper had also been investigating allegations about the city's new police chief, Gideon Cody, and a claim that the department turned a blind eye to Newell driving without a license.

Biden's alcohol czar warns Americans could soon be told to limit themselves to just two
Biden's health czar told DailyMail.com the USDA could revise its alcohol advice to match Canada 's, where people are advised to have just two drinks per week. Dr George Koob - who admits to enjoying two glasses of Californian Chardonnay a week - said he was watching Canada's 'big experiment' with interest. 'If there's health benefits, I think people will start to re-evaluate where we're at,' he told DailyMail.com. Current US recommendations say women can have up to one bottle of beer, small glass of wine or shot of spirit a day while men can have two. But those guidelines are up for review in 2025.
