That was weird, but then again I've been seeing weird all night. I met a pitbull tonight. His fur Daddy said that he was trained to fight in the dog ring. Then he spent 3 years re-training him and he did one heck of a good job. It's the sweetest dog I've ever met and I've had dogs my entire life. I also used to train obediance to dogs and still never met a sweeter dog in my life. I was actually sad when I had to leav
Second toe next to my big toe, left foot.

Just broke it for the third time on the same set of steps, twice chasing a puppy this time tripping over my slippers. I'd call it a pain in the ass but its really more of a pain in the foot.
I fractured my right foot and dislocated my right shoulder on Dec. 23/2023. I still don't know what happened. I know that the police were there doing a welfare check, courtesy of my neighbor after I woke up in the hospital with my face all bruised. The nearest we can figure, I was low in electrolytes and then did a face plant. Which still does not explain the fractured right foot and dislocated right shoulder. But I digress. It is also the 3rd time I broke the 3 smallest toes on my right foot.

I can't stop laughing at this picture. Look at her little face. It's as though she heard him say, "Surgery did someone say surgery? OMG, someone did say surgery!"

P.S. How set are you on naming her Linda because look at those eyes. She has Opal eyes. I mean, wow, look at those eyes. She has perfect, Opal eyes

Oh no! And am so sorry to hear that happened, Michael59... Please heal up soon! All our good thoughts to you. Getting older is a lot of fun, eh?
Have you ever considered something like Life Alert or something similar? Though not sure it would have helped in this case. I'm glad you are okay and it wasn't worse; you could have hit your head on something.

This could as easily be in the political thread. But, this is about his dog.

FDR was literally dying at that point but made one of the best speeches of his career during the 1944 campaign for his fourth term. This was to a group of extremely drunk Teamsters but I never fail to get a big kick out of it. FDR built all the schools around here, they all have the same old look to them. My mom and aunt remembered FDR in his wheelchair coming in to visit the kiddies in with Fala.

For years gram used to run into Eleanor in the Grand Union shopping.

Yeah, well ... Pie has had a problem with her right rear leg a couple weeks now. I knew what it was - a torn cruciate ligament. One of her predecessors had that, plus in my brief go around as a vet assistant it was to assist and orthopedic surgeon doing exactly that. And he did that over and over like a treadmill as its the most common injury. It was the cornerstone of that practice and quite a money maker for them.

We're not using that one I worked for, this vet has an orthopedist she calls in that'll do it right there. So, we have a process to go through and some testing but probably at the end of June of after July 4th she'll be having another operation.

Oh, and every vet's office should look like this right?

The two cats are in need of a teeth cleaning and it's possible their teeth made one of them really sick. It's been one big liquid poop festival down there in the sand box. Frank''s lost a lot of weight while Louie seems OK. We've been juggling food a while now and anyone with cats knows what an adventure that can be.

Pie's limping due to a torn ligament and can't be walked as we normally do. Now she's won't eat or poop and is moping, which might be emotional. Dogs can get like that.

The goal is to get the cats well enough to tolerate a dental cleaning. Pie too plus she'll get all her radiographs for her pending knee surgery. We have our hands full tending sick kitties and limping dogs.

My wife tried a number of ramps and steps from Amazon that she refused to use to get on her day bed. I went down to the shed and knocked together a three stepper complete with carpeted treads all from garbage and scrap. Works perfectly. I'll make another today so she can get on the couch in the living room with us.

My oldest dog is a black Lab named Cole. He is at least 14, maybe older. He should have checked out long ago considering he has been hit by cars twice. Cole is mostly blind and has arthritis pretty bad, also his appetite isn't much these days. I don't think he is necessarily going to die right now, just old and worn out. I'm taking him to the vet on Friday to see what can be done to help him feel better. I know he probably doesn't have too much left in the tank and I'm ok with that, we have had many good years with him. If they could give him something for the arthritis at least I think he would move more and feel better in general.

I've had luck with glucosamine chondritin for my old boy Max. He dies at 17 and was a fairly large dog @ 85lbs. It takes a while and is subtle but it does help. i got the big jars of it @ Walmart and ground them up with a pill crusher and put it in his food. Best to check with a vet regarding dosages and opinions.

Pie's on Gallaprantin right now which is an NSAID for doggies. Prescription. Not for arthritis specifically but it might help.

We have the boys on Royal Canin gastrointestinal food right now. Hideously $$ but effective. Frank got some subcutaneous saline, an antibiotic and an anti-diarrhea shot. Couple days went by and he's been droopy but did start eating.

My wife actually woke me up to go look last night. Poop = health and she was monitoring closely. They both produced quantities and type that would make you think a pack of passing (literally) sabertooth tigers had stopped by just to use the box. Hoooooo-boy !

Agent Orange seems back to normal today. Louie never got that bad in the first place.

It was the food. First Merrick and then Wellness. I switched them to wet food a year ago when I took that vet assistant course because I had been reading about blocked cats. Males do better on wet food and had been, right up until pet manufacturers do what they always do - change it somehow that either makes them refuse it or in this case makes them really sick.

We're going to stick with the Royal Canin non-prescription, or Hills or something in the hopes of not going through vomit and pooppalooza again.

Michael59, I hope you are recovering and doing well!
