The coldest New Year on RECORD?

The Midwest and Northeast are experiencing bitterly cold temperatures with sub-zero arctic air and dangerously cold wind chills that are expected to continue for the next several days putting New Year's celebrations on ice.

With the final days of 2017 underway, forecasters are warning of frigid temperatures that could cause frostbite with as little as 30 minutes of exposure outside in the two regions.

The brutal cold front is currently clobbering several states with many of the temperatures only reaching a high in the 20s and lows in the single digits well below the freezing point.

Wind chill advisories or warnings are in effect for all of North Dakota and Wisconsin, as well as swaths of South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan and Indiana.

The forecast lows around here are very below average even now, 5 degrees the forecast low for new years eve here and potential ice...We don't see something like that until the end of January or early February...

That's a heat wave for Minnesota or Wisconsin.....

Houghton Michigan used to have a two week stretch every winter when the daily high was less than -10 F (-23 C).

If you don't have to bury pipes more than 6 feet deep you don't have winter.

My boss drove to Pennsylvania, and was suppose to be home today. i guess i`ll find out tomorrow when i go in if she made it or not. And for the crazy weather i blame Niburu and a upcoming pole shift.

There are only about 38,138,000 poles.

Whether they shift to the right or the left doesn't change much.

Our high temperature here today was -10.
I have postponed my 10 mile midnight nude stroll until the weather get better....too warm for that.:wacko8::Tongue:
Not near the coldest but definitely an attention getter for December here.
Back in 1993 we had a -48 with other local towns exceeding -50. But that was early February.

My mom remembers going out on New Years Eve in Saint Paul Minnesota when it was -15 with a wind chill of -60.......it didn't stop them. It didn't stop the kids from walking to school either.....my two oldest brothers remember that as well.

I wasn't aware that the magnetic poles were set to shift.

Yes, Minnesota gets damn cold as well.
In 1963 I was only 5. The buses from Minneapolis had trouble with diesel fuel gelling. Wind chills had exceeded -60 in places that year.

That's cold.

I used to live in Minneapolis off Hamline Ave. One morning when it was below -30F/-34C I went out to put oil in my car.

I got the plastic bottle out of the trunk, opened the hood, unscrewed the breather cap, unscrewed the top to the bottle, turned it upside down over the hole, and waited for the magic.

And waited.

After a couple minutes something between the consistency of thick honey and silly putty and a golden yellow color started oozing out of the bottle. After about 10-15 minutes I'd gotten half the bottle of oil in the car, and lost all feeling in my hands.

I decided discretion is the better part of valor, and managed with my numb hands to get the top on the bottle, the breather cap back on, shut the hood, and get back into the apartment, with the bottle of oil.

I figured that the oil and I could use a warm-up, and I could try again another day.

Where is the evidence the magnetic poles are about to shift? What are the projected damages by niburu on its first visit to our solar system beyond the obvious gravitational effects.

Well I got as far as Nibiru then you lost me...

I was asking what effects niburu would have if it ever came thru our solar system....I'll wait and see if I get an answer about that and the pending magnetic polar shift. Though it will likely happen in the near geologic future.

Well... the magnetic poles are going to shift because they do once in a while. The next configuration is probably going to be 4 pole not two so a compass would be useless.

Nibiru would produce orbital distortions as soon as it entered the solar system and astronomers, NASA, etc. would be screaming to high heaven.

Nibiru would make such a mess that a robot mission to say Neptune, would miss completely and be unable to enter orbit.

So this stuff is tracked.
