You know I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised (?) by the lack of discussion or mention about this weekend's Odessa shootings or the Dayton/El Paso shootings of last month.

It goes without saying that @nivek has created a place where one is welcomed to talk about anything ( especially all things paranormal ) and for that I thank him and I'd tip my hat if I was wearing one, and yet no takers on the shootings. Unfortunately not mentioning the shootings... And I am aware I just did… isn't going to change the fact that it won't happen again and I suppose that's the real shame and tragedy. Its tempting to put a paranormal spin or metaphysical aspect to it by proclaiming the " door has been opened" or words to that effect but the door has been open for some time going back even before 1966 and Austin.

In a way I hate saying this because of the unspoken implications it gives but stay safe everyone. We all have a duty to perform in bringing all kinds of flotsam and jetsam to one another as there is so much distraction to be found it's so as you can't see the forest for the trees.

Well, you did bring it up...
I just want to point out some unusual behavioral traits of the perp.

"A neighbor of the west Texas shooter says the 36-year-old came up to her house last month with a big rifle and yelled at her for leaving trash in a nearby dumpster.

Veronica Alonzo also described how her neighbor would frequently shoot out of a structure on top of his house at night into his yard, often going to retrieve dead animals afterwards.

Investigators at the gunman’s home Sunday were seen placing dozens of small red flags in locations outside his property, around locations that Alonzo indicated he would shoot at.

Alonzo said she called police after the incident last month, but that they had never responded because the location of the property does not show up on GPS and is difficult to find.

Alonzo said that the shooter’s home had no running water or electricity. She said she saw him sitting in his gold Toyota Camry with the heat on when the weather was cold."

I wonder if he was some sort of survivalist?

I did post on the event. Perhaps so many left me desensitized to it happening.
The twins Ian and Chris all sat down with Rikki and I. we had a long discussion. Gun violence stuck hard to all 4.
I posted positive things because if all we think about is negative then we all will go crazy.
so open your window and shout I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take it any more!

Whenever I use my Bluetooth speaker in the house I usually have my phone across the room closer to me...I catch myself sometimes, I want to change the song to another and for a split second I think I need to get up and walk over to where those speakers are to change the song, like it's an old style stereo lol...That moment quickly escapes and I know I must use my phone to change the music, and the phone is within arms reach right now lol...

That still the Dells?

I found this stuff in a drawer from the '90s. Somewhere packed away I have similar stuff from the '70s. The small tour boats that run up & down the river and each crew had their own glamour shots. Those college kids are probably grandparents now.

and so today is the 1st full day of school. I reflect on the fact that now all my kids are going to school.
I watched as samantha walked into K4
quickly and eagerly.
The start of her journey.
The twins now sophomores are starting a year filled with classes to prepare for college.
Ian starts Wright middle school
A new challenge.
And Chris 3rd grade.
summer is over.
it seems so short.

I have my work cut out for me at my job, I get to work this morning and find out two of my technicians were troubleshooting a hydraulic lifting system on a press lamination line, it is a three stage lift cycle and would not lift to the third stage...So these two guys were troubleshooting it for over two hours by looking at the programming code in their office, I get to work and see this and go out to the equipment, within ten minutes pinpoint the problem, a dirty solenoid on a small hydraulic pump, cleaned it and the equipment ran the rest of the day without issue...

A comment my brother often makes is that young mechanics - "technicians" these days - often go straight to a computer for diagnosis when 99% of the vehicle is "just a machine."

I often say that the best troubleshooting tools out there are your damned pockets. Put your filthy mitts in your pockets and don't use them to start taking things apart without good reason. Look at the damned thing first.

They weren't even at the machinery, they were looking on a computer in the office of all places...

So this morning before getting to work I got a call asking me to go down the road to another facility the company has, over there they are trying to troubleshoot a Beckhoff controlled automated loading line, it went down on third shift and their techs haven't been able to get it figured out...I get there and the tech on duty is on the machine troubleshooting the mechanical and motors which was good to see but looking at the faults it was giving it was clear that wasn't the problem...This time the laptop was needed to communicate with the system, there were encoding faults which I went in the software and reestablished communication with the drives, reboot and all is good...
