As Above So Below
Yes they could and did.....even in the 4th Dynasty.

I don't think Zahi Hawass or the Antiquities dept in Egypt are going to let them dig it up . They won't even let them drill test holes anymore to search for cavities. The entire Giza plateau is honeycombed with cavities , shafts and anomalies. They know they are there just no one is going to do anything about them. Wouldn't that be something to find the Hall of Records under there , intact and full of papyrus scrolls.

It appears Campbell's Tomb is an ingenious sandtrap. If they reach that point they wouldn't be able to pass because it would continually fill with sand unless they dug it out from the surface.
So,, this is all speculation then
There could be great things to be found under the sphinx ..
And Or someone is claiming it as a fact ?
If you let some clown like Robert Schoch start tunneling under the sphinx the Egyptian government is taking the chance of losing the sphinx.
Lol ,, I can picture that,,
thanks
Yes I agree that the modern Egyptians can travel anywhere they like around the world.
Or are you saying Hawass is hiding military secrets?
The only things Hawass would be hiding are financial ones.
Perhaps he is.
The tour guide said there's at least three levels of tunnels under the Giza
He was in serious trouble at one stage through dodgy real estate dealings and misappropriation of antiquities.
I guess the key phrase is "was".
Yes was . He has been arrested and fired but all is good with him now . Just got to watch his hands is all .
He does know his stuff....he is just an ass.
Modern day Pharaoh according to him. He treats his workers very shabbily.
