Well I am going to give you some advice you would not expect from an old bloke.
I have learned that through your life there will be special moments in time.
They might be a birthday, an lovely afternoon with Nana,
A beautiful moment with a partner, or
A Musical event.
I am old, so I wont pretend to tell you what is important to you all.
Only you know what is important to you.
For all of it (Dad talking here) use good judgement, be safe, take risks but, make them calculated ones.
But I am only going to talk about music here. The other stuff is your memories to make
There are moments in time that although you may not realize it at that time, will become very significant in years to come.
And, they will never come twice.
Like....
Woodstock
Live Aid
Sunbury
Oh so many...
And I have missed so many because I said, naa cant afford it, can't be bothered.
Those missed times will never come again.
So when a friend says, hey lets go see....PINK???
Don't say no, say yes. (Dad here again, Be careful)
I guess what I am saying is that most folks when you get to my age and older tend to no so much regret the things we did.
But we regret the things we didn't.
So above all, be safe, But say yes. Enjoy every moment on earth you can.
Because some special moments in time only come once, you can either be there...or not.
And you probably won't realize how special they were until your old like me
So go for it, never miss a moment. EVER, No Matter what,
Stuff a day off at school, take the night off from work. Do what you have to do to be there.
Yours might be Pink, Metallica, I dunno, that crappy doomph, doesn't matter.
It just has to be yours.
Here is one of mine...
Your probably expecting Johnny Cash.
Nope, Not this time.
I was here, Right of stage, hands on the front rails, front row in the mosh pit, right of center.
I still Love Kiss,
Still have the ringing in my ears 27 years later
First Song.
Detroit Rock City.
Don't regret the things you didn't, brag about the things you did, they might only come once in your life
Don't miss them.
Go for it.
The Video is Sydney because all the ones I was at at VFL park Melbourne (where i was 1980 aged 18) are crap.
Above all, listen to Mum and Dad when it comes to safety, they are your best allies,
But when it comes to your world of music and they say "Turn that Shit Down"
Turn it up and dance on your bed with your best friend.
Never miss a moment...
