Two moments in time.

it seems like yesterday they showed up in this world. my wonderful girls. so alike. so different. Kate telling us she was a lesbian did not shock me. I saw it as young as 13. as for Debbie her sexual orientation was formed also early on. I thought she had been straight, but she secretly was dabbling. Her rejection of males has been from when Brian destroyed her. I'm happy Kate has found peace a life. all my views of the future never saw this. and so, my daughter is getting married. we come full circle. the wheel turns. And i will be happy to perform the handfasting for them.

You know how everyone says they married their best friend?! Well that’s me. Three years of friendship, a little denial, and falling in love. Toss in a couple yrs of dating and Boom married next year !
How I could be so lucky to have this amazing women by my side every day is unimaginable. She is the strongest and most caring person I know!
I love you so much megan S I can’t wait for this crazy adventure to continue!

Very happy for all of you! Can a Wiccan priest/preistess not perform a legal wedding in Wisconsin? Down here, anybody can do it as long as the people getting married consider them to be a member of the clergy and the vows are properly solemnized with witnesses who sign the license. My cousin's husband got ordained by the Church of Jedi and can legally perform marriages here.

Handfasting is the Wiccan (and related pagan) equivalent of a church marriage. That’s it. Marriages are entirely legal affairs that are accompanied by a contract with the state that says the participants will be treated as a single unit - that is the point of a marriage certificate. Your vows before God in the church is not what makes the tax office or court recognize you as a family; the marriage certificate you pay for at the courthouse does.

So a handfasting - which is the religious ritual portion of the wedding - serves the exact same function as a wedding at a temple or church. The clergy will be certified by the state to function as clergy (in places that require it) and the marriage certificate is the actual legal document that indicates to the state that you are married.
I am registered clergy. my daughter Kate is also registered. we are recognized as clergy. so YES! i had thought no but in the fullness of time it is yes.
Kate is going to be a lawyer, one her idols is Janet Protasiewicz, a lesbian who rose to serve on the Wisconsin Supreme court it was her that sparked Kate's drive to practice law. Tammy Baldwin also a lesbian serves in the senate Kate contacted Janet's office who responded that the Justice would be honored to perform the service. and so, like us Kate will have not one but TWO weddings. valid under the law.

In 2018 Kate and Debbie went out for the "mad calf's " Jr Derby. At 17 it's what they qualified for. As 2019 dawned and COVID cutting into things their derby carrer was cut short . During that time in mad calf's Kate met Megan. In 2021 after 3 years in the friends zone Megan told Kate she was "curious" and wanted to "experiment." Kats relationship with Angie (her GF at the time) was already fractured and all but dead . This was a time of denial for Megan. By 2022 Megan was out and proud but commitment was hard for them. Angie was trying to poison the relationship. Kate was about to walk when Angie made a major blunder. She did a foolish and unforgivable act . Kate saw what she had done it was a dark time for my daughter finally in disgust Kate kicked Angie out of the place she rented with her. Megan picked up the pieces and the lease . The two are now inseparable. Today Kate skates for the vaudville vixens as "killer Kate " Megan is " the fury"
As for Debbie she was *darling Debbie" she reworked it into a stage name for her modeling "Debbie Darling!"

"Today i donated my "Miley " slut outfits to goodwill. I can't believe I used to wear these. I'm ashamed of that time in my life. What I did for attention. I can look in the mirror and see me. Not a parody of Miley Cyrus. And it is because of the MAN I love. He wanted me. Not "Miley" yes he's 16 like me. But he respects me I can be with him. Love him without any regrets. Ian has been a friend a partner someone I can cry on his shoulder.
Ian is my BFF. Soon my lover. And in time my husband. I can't see my life without him.

I am so happy for her! They both need to truly cherish what they have and invest time and effort into making it something that will last forever. Hint: don't sweat the small stuff. If something isn't going to matter a year from now, it's not worth arguing about!
 
We are watching the relationship closely.
Debbie met a guy named Brian during her freshman year. She fell hard for him.there was talk of marriage. We did not see it but there were some warnings. Debbie converted to Christianity. Instead of following her heart into WICCA. Some effort was made to make her disavow her mom. Time passed. Brian became domineering controlling.then it happened she must submit fully to him.give up her life her plans. For him. He destroyed her . The church was all.she would become the wife of a decon then he would be pastor In time.she would smile be happy have his kids. Be a "good" wife. In short a puppet.
Ian and Anna are on a different path but. Rikki and I are being super carful watching Ian carefully. And it's not helping that Anna's folks are headed for divorce. Her mom abandoned them. Her dad is drinking a lot. We can't play mom and dad to Anna. It's a mess.
 
The last woman I went out with before I met my wife was like that. Her world was a weird combination of separatist fundamentalism, Christian pop culture, and whatever version of the man-made virginity idol that was popular at the moment. Whatever that shit is, it ain't what Jesus taught.
 
As a parent I help Shepard my kids. Ian is 16. After all his antics at 14. I dreaded his future. Anna changed him. Because he fell in love hard. He walked away from being a marine for her. I watched the relationship grow and bloom. He matured became loving and responsible. He talks to me about her a lot. I give advice but allow him to make his own choices to take responsibilities for his actions for better or worse. Since school started I saw where things were headed with them. That for better or worse they were headed for the next level in that relationship. I worked with Ian to prepare him for that day. And so Ian talked to me. The day had come. And so my son has moved closer to being the man he is swiftly becoming. I can't be happier or more supportive of him. He openly is talking marriage after high school. And I'm there every step of the way. My oldest son is becoming the man I hoped he would be.
I can't ask for more or better
 
I really like how you and Rikki are so supportive of your children finding quality partners. Most parents are against them finding anybody at all, and tell them to follow the unrealistic notion of exclusively concentrating on studies during their young lives. My parents thought I was nuts for wanting to find a woman to marry while I was still in high school. The need to find a partner is incredibly strong in most people, and I believe parents should be very supportive of their children finding a good one instead of telling them to just sit on their hands about it. I can tell you, if I had a deep and lasting romance during my high school career I really believe my life would not have been so chaotic and filled with bad choices. A romantic partner exerts an influence that no one else can, including parents and teachers.
 
18 days and my oldest daughter will be married..the years have flown by like rain. My little girl grown up. Her own woman now assertive and ready. I visit her apartment. Seeing all the things that she did to make it home. Her own place but there is somethings she kept her teddy bears and hello kitty her derby stuff. Her pet cat. So many things that now make up her life. In 2 years she will take the bar and be a lawyer. I'm watching her adult life unfold. She is ready for the next chapter. Question is :am I?
