A long time ago when I was a member of YUFOS, one of the biggest things was the lights seen at Hessdalen.
There was a report drawn up about this phenomena, called, not surprisingly, The Hessdalen Report. I have a copy somewhere.
Now, a bunch of investigators set out to do a comprehensive investigation on these lights. And in true ufo fashion, nothing positive was discovered. But they overlooked one thing. Something that may have been significant. Right at the end of the report they mention that they aimed a laser at one of the lights; and it went out.
No further mention was made of this in the report.
Surprising really as it was a positive reaction to what they did.
So maybe there is some connection between the objects (lights) and a coherent light beam.
Just though you may like to know that.
