An Argentinian submarine is missing and there's an international effort to locate it. They know that a fire aboard knocked out their communications.
Search stepped up for missing submarine
President Mauricio Macri said all national and international resources were being deployed to help find the San Juan as quickly as possible.

A Nasa research plane has joined the search for the vessel.

Britain and countries in the region have offered help after it disappeared 430km (267 miles) off the coast.

"We have not been able to find, or have visual or radar communication with the submarine," navy spokesman Enrique Balbi told a news conference.

I didn't know Argentina had submarines, how odd...

If its not on the surface somewhere the crew is likely to be dead....hope they find it drifting.

But then at 34 years old it could have suffered structural failure and ended up on eternal patrol.

Surprised the Royal Navy doesn't know where they are, but they were a long way from the Falklands, so I doubt the Royal Navy Sub that patrols that area was tracking it, hope they find them safe, but it doesn't look good...

Two ships picked up noises on sonar and it could be coming from the missing sub. It sounded like tools being struck against a hull.

What a bunch of bumbling fools.....hope some of them are left alive. But the batteries are limited and running out so if they are found soon they'll only be recovering bodies.

Why are they fools?...We don't know what happened to them yet?...We don't know if they're alive or dead...The noises could be someone on the submarine trying to get help...

They got a radio signal saying the sub was in trouble......and they don't know where it is?

Yes there might be some left alive......but had they done one simple thing this wouldn't be an issue. Like I said their time is short if the sub is submerged as the battery is running out.....but based on the new report I highly doubt this will be anything but a recovery mission.

Some broken incomplete satellite messages, from what I've read..

When things go south in a sub, it happens fast..

Metanoia
Diesel electric subs have 3 days of battery power submerged......and even if they can extend it they can't filter out the co2 buildup. But that's assuming the sub is bottomed out above its crush depth.

That info I listed about 2 days of air was from the Argentinian Navy updates on the submarine and 44 crew members.

The Argentine Navy just stated that the sonar noise they have been picking up is not from their missing submarine.
