What happend to u? Why take X-ray for?
Out of my control.
We had been racing down a blue slope at Lake Placid (I did the luge the day before - that is rough on the fillings), and we were just cruising back down it on the upper half of the mountain. It was a blue slope and I was only going 35-40 MPH so I wasn't paying a lot of attention and wasn't in a racing crouch.
I took the bottom track into a blind 90° corner that had a dip, as I went over the edge I saw a mogul and didn't have time to react (it hadn't been there earlier). The guys with me said I went 20+ feet in the air. Hit the far bank of the trail at a perpendicular angle (square on).
The guys were speculating on whether I was dead when they saw some twitching and I got to my feet. They excitedly told me about my short air trip and that I was lopsided. One shoulder was too far forward and too low.
Picked up my poles in my left hand and started skiing with them down the hill. When I got to the mid station the ski patrol spotted me. They literally tackled me. They were pissed I was still skiing. From there on things were out of my control. I was tied to one of the gurney sleds and towed down the hill. What a nuisance.
This led to an ambulance ride to the hospital and the X-rays so they could figure out what I had done to myself. I'm lucky the collar bone was the only thing that broke. I used my shoulder as a crush zone to absorb impact, much like the front of a car is designed to do.
