Sheltie

Fratty and out of touch.
I've never seen a kangaroo in real life. If I was driving down a dark, deserted road and one hopped out in front of me I would almost certainly freak out.

I see kangaroos everyday including Sundays and platypuses they are in a creek near where I live plus Devils and Spotted Cats ect ect. Tasmania is like an open zoo.

Do they ever scare you?

Not really we don't have the monster ones like on the Mainland but even so you should treat them with respect they can and will attack you given a reason. The ones on the Mainland do not use a reason they just attack you period.
Our ones.

They maybe herbivores......but they are far from helpless it seems.....
When I was young, I grew up as a hunter, we are talking over 30 years ago now. In those days it was pretty common to have big arse hunting dogs. Irish Wolf Hounds and the likes. I have seen more than one hunting dog get holes ripped in it by a big angry cornered roo. I know hunters now that have full length studded leather neck collars to protect their dogs throats.

I believe Augusts picture was of Roger, a 6' 7" hand reared roo in Alice Springs.

Always a bad idea to corner your quarry.....good idea to protect the dogs.

I remember years ago in an Australian magazine this crazy Aussie hunter who reckoned it was weak to hunt wild pigs with a gun. He had a fox terrier and a big arse knife. His theory was that that evened things up a bit. Him and his dog had rips and scars all over them. Crazy or brave, not sure which.

Probably crazy haven't seen to many Feral pigs down here but the ones on the Mainland can be pretty scary things . The pigs have their own knives as well and a nasty temper to go with it.
