Thanks @Georgek, good idea for this one.
Personally, I think we went and whoever says we didn't is nuts. Maybe there's a big diving board at the edge of Flat Earth and after a few bounces and a good booooiiing that's how it was done. Also, if they never went how could Neil and Buzz have met (and ignored for the sake of the camera) the big alien mothership that was supposed to be sitting there watching them?
The Unexplained With Howard Hughes #231 interviewed Marcus Allen about the moon landing hoax.
Edition 231 - Marcus Allen
I don't really remember what he said other than it really provoked me to drop Howard a line and to my delight he gave me a shout out. Allen's just hawking his wares - doubt he actually believes it himself.
Howard also interviewed a man who wanted to go on about the connection to Stanley Kubrick and claim he did it all in a studio. Can't find that one right off but I'm looking. This guest believes in what he was saying to a disturbing degree; a sandwich or two shy of a picnic, smile and back slowly to the door, that kind of thing ....
He seemed to think that an oddity with a typewriter font helped proved the case and I remember at the time yelling at my truck dashboard that old typewriters just used a lower case l and didn't have the digit 1 on them. Sitting next to a 1952 Royal HH right now and yup, that's the case. When (and if) I find the episode I'll post a link.
What I had never heard of was about Kubrick's supposed deathbed confession. Weird and questionable.
Stanley Kubrick Admitted That He Was Involved In Faking The Moon Landings
Something else I've heard of in relation to a moon landing hoax is about the 1352nd Motion Picture Squadron. Yes, the Pentagon did have a 'secret' film studio. Reuters War College podcast from February 22 2019 gave a nice look at it: War College: The Secret History of the Pentagon's Hollywood Studio on Apple Podcasts
