A.I. Generated Comedy

Brendan Schaub is a comedian who on the one hand is pretty successful, but on the other has various online groups dedicated to ridiculing him. Anyway, someone got A.I. to produce an imitation of a Schaub comedy routine. Not surprisingly, some people sarcastically say that it is better than the real Schaub.

I've posted it here (timestamped) not because of Schaub, but to illustrate how smooth A.I. can be sometimes.

Here is a version on YouTube that does not have any editorializing:

It seems verisimilitudinous, having never heard of this alleged comedian before, but tracking down some footage of the real person, it seems out of character for him:

The AI version sounds more intelligent and is less excitable, with an even tonality in its voice. The AI version I could stand to listen to for a few minutes, whereas I could only tolerate the recording of the real person for a few seconds at a time.

According to the creator, responding to a comment on his other video (the Jordan Peterson stand up comedy routine), the jokes are not AI written:

Thanks. I was under the impression that both content and voice were A.I. generated. I really shouldn't have supposed that, as I had not heard of A.I. producing such sophisticated monologues, even integrating personal details of a real person.

I would think in order to produce jokes, ChatGPT or similar would have to lift those jokes from someone else. Joke writing requires innovation, and LLMs cannot as yet innovate.

As Above So Below
I think it's possible we will see AI replacing PLCs in automation machinery, one that could self-diagnose and make equipment adjustments without the need of a human operator to perform that task...An AI that's used in this capacity could also report to the maintenance technicians on what repairs need to be made directly...The technician would not have to troubleshoot nor diagnose a machinery problem if the AI can do this task and report the problem...I don't know if I'll see this happen in my lifetime or if it will come about but it's certainly a possibility...

As above, so bellow

Innovation is "hallucination", and AI certainly can "hallucinate". Comedy is all about being loose with facts, so that aspect suits AI just fine.

I don't know how will AI have feeling for what is "funny".
