Looks like we now have two much better choices than either Trump or Biden. In addition to RFK Jr., it looks like Joe Manchin is going to throw his hat in the ring. I think that if Manchin decides to run as a Democrat and ousts Joe from the ticket, or Joe decides to bow out, or Joe's handlers make their first intelligent decision ever and don't allow him to run, he could very well win. Manchin would win the popular vote automatically because he has a D after his name and he should have not-inconsiderable Republican support (or at least quiet approval) outside of the we heart Trump side.

Biden will get reelected and it'll be Trump's fault. I'm already girding my loins

Just venting fear. The Democrats - specifically the nasty clot that has been in place for about ten years now - are waaaaaay better at the Department of Dirty Tricks than the Republicans are and I expect some jiggery-pokery, some applesauce, to paraphrase Justice Scalia. All this nonsense we've endured over the past few years has been the reaction to Trump more than anything he did specifically. He wants a wall, we'll open the borders wide and let anyone in!! Cut off your nose to spite your face. It seems Trump has been out of his depth and step behind when it comes to playing dirty pool and is in this for himself and revenge. If he just stepped aside I think another Republican, maybe even a Haley, would present a viable alternative for many. What's about to happen next will be deja vu all over again. Even if he gets in I fear for the next level reaction - the first one got us Woke, remember.

I wouldn't count Old Joe out just yet, I wouldn't take that for granted at all. Mistake. Isn't that exactly what happened last time? Nobody was rigging machines or stuffing ballot boxes, they just got outmaneuvered with all the early/mail in/no verification voting and by coopting media outlets.

We have two way more credible choices in RFK Jr. and Joe Manchin. Sadly they might be ignored since the powers that be have managed to herd everyone into the I hate Trump/I love Trump camps.

Manchin is a tad too coy about it and RFK does not inspire me. Hate to say it but speaking as a Ross Perot voter, when you get down to where the rubber meets the road a third party isn't going to work.

there are signs that economy is recovering?

I don't see any recovery in sight, many economists and financial gurus are saying we are heading into a deeper recession, almost depression level coming in the near future...The asinine uncontrolled printing and spending of US dollars by our federal government along with high interest rates, high inflation, and a housing market that's collapsing are the problems...Biden is now going after grocery chains claiming they are price gouging but it's Biden's own policies that are wrecking everything...

I'm asking because I follow financial markets, so just wanted to see how locals see it.

I would say that the view of economic situation mostly depends on the political spin one is promoting. CNN is obviously behind Joe so they are all rage how good economy is. But on the end of the day one has to look at what price doing. Judging by what people are prepared to pay for US stocks, outlook is very optimistic. Now, US national debit is at all times high and FED might be pumping some cash into the economy to create some optimism before elections, but for electorate that's a bit hazy thing to worry about. So, its really pick and choose situation.

Prices are up more than 25% across the board for consumer goods. At a local level we pay noticeably more for everything and that has made my wife and I begin to comparison shop and use places like Walmart.

I have a hard time trying to wrap my head around National Debt but if I had to pick one word to describe it I'd use 'unsustainable'

That's not even the worst part. Worst part is that instead of going into economic activity that national debit only went into inflation of stock prices. Very nasty wasted opportunity that will add to economic slowdown and unemployment.

For sake of comparison national debit of Argentina ( that is laughing stock of economists ) is 87% of GDP, but US tops Argentina with national debit of 120% of GDP. If interest rates go up few points a point can easily be reached where US gov. will have to pay more in interest then what can be paid off with it's tax income.

Me personally, I live my life like things such as social security and Medicare don't exist and never will. I'm planning to work until I drop dead. This isn't a pessimistic outlook, this is how I choose to live. I've noticed that when people go on these programs they invariably develop a learned dependence on them, and become infantile in many ways.

My maternal grandfather kept working on his farm and construction full time after he "retired". One second he was on the tractor bush hogging, the next second he was hit with a massive heart attack and his essential being was heading towards whatever comes next. Yes, that's exactly how I want to go. They'll probably find my corpse under a car with a wrench still in my hand, or up in a tree with my trusty .30-30.
