Truthiness
Mrs.Pigfarmer and I were just chewing the fat at the breakfast table. No doubt this will get me labeled a Todd or Karen or just a*****e, but here you go:
Read a book years ago called Trooper Down about the (I think) North Carolina State Police. An officer mentioned that traffic stops on vans were cause for concern since you can't really tell what's inside as you walk up on it in a traffic stop. They made it s.o.p to touch the side of the vehicle to leave a fingerprint in case they were suddenly gunned down so there might be evidence later if needed. That little factoid is a bit sobering and should give you some insight as to what it's like to walk up on a strange vehicle on a roadside alone.
Since I drove a service truck with no windows, cages and all that I took the advice to heart. Statistically with the amount of time I spent on the road I got pulled over a number of times. Rarely ticketed and here's why: I shut the vehicle off kept my hands up on the steering wheel and didn't say a word until spoken to. When inevitably asked 'do you know how fast you were going' I never lied or tried to be clever. Way I look at it, this cop does this a million times a week and just wants it over with. I just did my best to get through it and never had a real problem. Definitely some annoying ones but never one that rose to a serious level. Local cops are the worst and present the greatest chance of poor behavior, IMO.
I realize that if I happen to be black, maybe owned a nice car and constantly got pulled over constantly because I fit a profile I'd be pissed with good reason. I got utterly lost once in San Antonio with a coworker. They put the highways up on giant concrete poles down there and it confuses the hell out of Yankees. Cops saw a white man and a black man driving a rental car suspiciously in a rough Latino neighborhood - we instantly won the prize because we fit the drug seeking profile. The prize was to have our car and our persons tossed on the curbside. My friend wasn't an American citizen and Jesus, I thought they were going to snap on a glove and examine his prostate right there on the street. I was absolutely pissed and can say that the city cops were something less than professional. Left us a big mess and a few sarcastic comments and a big F-U from me to the city of San Antonio. Humiliating and infuriating.
But I understand what happened.
I had to endure it and get past it, like apiece of corn flowing through your system.
What do you suppose might have happened if I had not cooperated?
Fighting with the cop on the street is a pointless recipe for disaster and can precipitate behavior from that very human officer that demonstrates that not everyone reacts well under stress. If Jacob Blake - that fine specimen of humanity that no doubt you would have been happy to invite over for dinner - had just shut the f**k up and stood still he'd still be alive and free to continue living his life pure as the driven snow. But of course, saying that brands me a horrible racist without empathy or understanding. God forbid we might be accountable for our own actions - but in 2020 as long as there is someone else to point as say they are worse, we aren't. To suggest that racial inequality and police behavior might be something to hash out without violence in a public forum, well God, just vote me right off the planet. That would be Krazy Talk. Time for another efficacious Beer Summit.
I learned my lessons about dealing with the fuzz years ago. Regardless of their moral standing, they are the brass.
Two different scenarios, Different points in life
Scenario 1, I was 22 years old, Some guy in a parking lot pulled our in front of me squealing tires all through the parking lot just to be an ass, A cop who was just over the hill, from his perspective Thought That I had done this in my vehicle, of course, because I was right behind the guy. of course, The first thing I say is, Look, man, I don't care what you think that wasn't me and I can prove it, I am in a tiny 2006 Lexus and the tire marks are from a much larger truck, So the Cop, No pissy, Says, I never said it was you, So I asked then Why did you pull me over? The situation degraded until I was put in jail for calling him a mother F***er.. Honestly, People just don't understand my situation, I honestly didn't care if I went to jail that night...
Situation 2, I was slightly older, Now around 33 years, I get pulled over by what is called a State trooper, These are the kind of guys who can chase you across state boarder. I had a half-ounce of weed in the Passengers seat next to me. Blue lights go off, I pull over, Just knowing I'm going to jail and the guy steps up to the car, He looks just Like My Dad, The spitting image, And I am kind of high, So I ask if this is a joke, I mean look, I know what my father looks like, This guy, Looked exactly like my dad. I don't know what confused expression I had on my face, But this officer kneeled down next to my window, Asked for my license and looked at it, And then shined his light on to my weed, Which he fully saw, He then said, You are literally two blocks away from your home. Go there now, And If I see you out again tonight you are going to jail.
I went home, Got High, and never forgot that incident. Not all Cops are Bad, Not all Authority is Bad. There are just bad people in every group that happens to be large enough.
I am sure there are good politicians in this world, The problem is, When people Vote, They literally don't vote for the best person for the Job, They Vote for the most popular, The most entertaining.
Consider, I am nonpolitical. I don't have a grudge against Trump, I don't, But the Man literally rose to prominence on Stage, Calling people Low Iq people, Talking about his literal ***k Size And saying if Ivanka wasn't his daughter, he would totally..... I mean, Come on, Who says that about their Daughter? That's literally a person whom he changed the Diapers of, I assume. No, Just no,, People didn't Vote tump in for his Empirical Morality.
People wonder Why I am a Loner that has very little faith in the common man. Well, I live in a world that tells me, Trump was literally the best man for the job, and What's worse is, he really was..
That says a lot about the current state of things honestly.
