Think it will kill the show having a female Doctor. Just another PC stunt for revive falling ratings.

Seems that every popular culture hero etc... is getting a politically correct alternative. I wonder when we will see a male version of Wonderwomen?

It looks like they want us to idolize the feminine side. I think it's a part of a larger and possibly global agenda to emasculate the population because it removes the aggressive nature & makes males passive. Putting the female hormone estrogen in all plastics is also part of the plan. Testosterone is a four letter word to the PTB. Maybe Bruce Jenner could play Wonder Dude. :D

The ratings wouldn't have fallen so much if they had better writers.

I've been watching Dr Who since 1975 when I found it accidentally on PBS out of Chicago while flipping channels one early evening. I kind of agree with Peter Davison in that it's a traditional male character from the beginning and there really isn't any reason to change it unless the series is failing and/or there was some pressure from others to change it up.
I'll still be watching since I have been a fan for 40 years, but one wonders what the reasoning is behind this move.
Are they trying to bring in more female viewers or what..? Are networks going to start changing up other roles for politically correct reasons...or is this about ratings...or something else..?

The last couple years or so the stories have been consistently weak, with a few exceptions though, but I blame Steven Moffat fully for sterilizing the series creating a void for crap like this to happen...If there were solid writing like what Russell T Davies provided we would not be seeing a female Doctor...

That and the BBC lost their credibility years ago, in my opinion, they have no bollocks and yield to any whim or cry...

All is not lost. Next month on the BBC (I presume) are releasing a series of Doctor Who audio shows staring David Tennant and Billie Piper. If I heard correctly on the radio this afternoon, the first show is about an alien invasion of my home city of Norwich, Norfolk UK, which if you lived round here you would have thought has already happened. Rather looking forward to it!!!

    Awesome, I'll check that out...

They had already turned the Master into a woman then Lord President was regenerated into a woman, they should have stopped there...The lead character is a man's role, not a woman...
