I noticed. I tried posting a Forbes link about the co-founder of the app Wish to share with friends and family, but was unable to. Also looking to advertise on the platform to help launch campaigns. FB is a great boon and vital for many businesses and projects, along with regular contact with people far away. I'm pro Facebook and IG as tools to promote creative endeavors and help facilitate making a living out of. I wonder what happened, hopefully back up and running smoothly.

    I'll share here instead.

It may not be a 'problem'...

But I have no use for Facebook, never will...

I tried it for several months. If you want an echo chamber full of inane crap with comments like the ones on Youtube, with occasional good bits floating around in the nonsense, it's just the thing. None for me, thanks. I'm happier knowing less about what my friends and family are up to.

Well, servers can be easily disconnected from the internet...So the servers may not be down, there may be no power outage, they could be simply disconnected from the internet...Then for what reason, maybe a large data dump for authorities or an internal data dump perhaps...I just have a difficult time with a cyber attack excuse because Facebook is used by too many rogue elements and others for legal and illegal activities, I don't see Facebook as a cyber-target...

I don't know why Facebook would be doing this on purpose, if that's what you're saying. They stand to lose many millions of dollars in advertising revenue.

My thing is this, here at the forums, I'm struggling to find a new identity, As I continue to exist, I change.

I don't know what to share and what to omit, So I'm really open here, I come off as awkward at times.

The problem with the internet And Facebook in general is, It has no Mods, Look, One thing that's changed about the internet is, The lack of moderation, People may not like or want A moderator telling them what's okay and what's not okay and removing posts as necessary, But it is necessary, When you have a lawless land with no rule, of course, there is going to be chaos. Nobody likes to be told what to do, But it's honestly necessary, Or you end up with disastrous chaos like people just coming on to someone's page and posting their very aggressive and provocative thoughts just to get a rise out of someone or to harm someone. Moderators are necessary, Each and every one of Us, Have no idea how many times we have been saved a lot of stress because some mod somewhere caught an inflammatory post early.

The internet doesn't need less Law, It needs more.

    Just an opinion.

The thing about FB that I find most regrettable is I suppose it's Vibe. I know I'm the most off topic person here.

But Facebook is like a completely different world, Once I was talking to my friend on there and another friend of mine came in and just completely trashed the conversation speaking a bunch of racist stuff. Why did he do this you may ask?

Simply because he could, And for me and Joe that was pretty awkward so we just called each other to finish the conversation. But I see a lot of things on FB from people who are depressed and seeking attention, They will post things that make them seem like they are literally having a near-suicidal crisis just to get the flow of attention from the outcry. I know that makes me sound heartless, I'm really not. I've just dealt with a lot of people in my lifetime and I've even "Tried" to help people who claim to be suicidal. One thing I have learned over the years, If someone claims to be suicidal over the internet, they are without a doubt looking for attention, And here's the clincher to that, Who is qualified to advise someone who literally is suicidal? I'm certainly not. I'm not the guy to speak to if someone is suicidal.

My reasoning for this is complicated, I've lost Both my daughters, and it was painful, It affected my life in ways I will never heal from and nothing on earth gets under my skin more than hearing people whine about how their lives suck because they lost a gf or bf, or their uncle told them they were fat. They have no idea the things other people suffer through before they even have breakfast in the morning. It's not that I'm heartless, It's That, I honestly believe, Everyone suffers and experiences sadness, But to bring that sadness and suffering to someone else and lay it upon them, It's just unfair.

It's the one thing I've noticed that People like that all seem to have in common, They seem to selfishly only think about themselves and their own problems, While dumping all of their baggage off on someone else and not caring how it affects others. I view depression as if it were a disease. Look around the world, There is no shortage of Sad people. It's something I don't want to catch, So I avoid downer type people.

Believe it or not. I have a host of other issues. But depression is something, I've learned to overcome. And I truly believe people can overcome it. But it's hard to overcome depression when we take on other peoples problems as well.

Some people could call me heartless, Others might think I'm just cold. It's not that, I view depression as something that is contagious and I simply don't want it. :/

I know, I went off topic a little. But there really is a whole lot of downer type people and depression on FB. In fact, When I think about Fb, Stuff like that is the first thing that comes to mind.

I haven’t been on Facebook in about two years I think. And I have not missed it. There is nothing I wanted from FB that I can’t do in more simple and uncluttered ways.

my twins were at a loss. no place to put selfies and other pics.
unlike rikki and I when we were growing up photos are an instant thing.
Facebook allows us to look at what they do. and with who.
the latest hijinks are known and monitored.

I would say Twitter is the next best solution, But honestly, Twitter is probably the most hostile and unforgiving of all the choices mentioned. Twitter is its own unique brand of crazy :/

i've actually never been on twitter. just always had this feeling like the lord was saying "just dont.." i hear what your saying SP. its def a 'narcissists-r-us'.com when it comes to seeking attention. and has become a great tool for sick ppl to control the mob. i try to share a lil positivity amongst all the negative BS on it .. whether that be pictures of nature, animals, birds, funny things i find on the internet. and i use it to stay in contact with my close family. but it has done some harm too.. i've been able to stay close with some family.. but the different ideals on some things have really put a wrench in the relationships with some other close family members.
