Many fell off during an earthquake in the 1300s and were used to build many of the mosques in Cairo.

Would they have markings on them from the quarry on one side? An example would be what's above the king's chamber.

Is this the sphinx clown that took this picture? Those indicate who it was built for and the work gang. Those aren't written on every block....most are to raw cut to be able to write on.
