My wife was not into Star Trek at all although she remembers bits and pieces of TOS. We still haven't gone through all of them although at this point I remember them line by line.
We watched all of TNG and she definitely liked it but having just seen DS9 start to finish she prefers it. Honestly, I do too. I hadn't seen most of it since the original broadcast and never really realized how rich some of that content is. It isn't sanitary like the other series, people die, bad things happen. The way it ended for Cisco though was just silly.
Don't know if Voyager and/or Enterprise is on the binge watch list. It took a few seasons for Voyager to hit its stride and Enterprise developed a story line that was uninteresting and a bit wandering.
So, my lifelong Democratic Upper East Side liberal wife has quietly been turned into a Trekkie conservative. We dare not let her family find out or their heads will explode

Yes, the whole ending felt rushed, and the way Sisco went out was silly nonsense...From there they couldn't have any specially appearances of Sisco in any other Star Trek series like other characters have done because of the way they wrote him out...I think there could have been an 8th season, the 7th felt too rushed...Don't get me wrong though, loved that season, love the whole series, some of the finest Star Trek ever made...
I really like Voyager, it does take a few seasons to get its stride, but midway through the 3rd season things start falling in place, with a huge turn of events with the cliffhanger going into the 4th season...From then on its some of the finest Star Trek made...

Right? He was The Cisco with a mission to be the Destiny of the Prophets .... just so he could shove Gul Dukat off a cliff.
Hell, you could give Paulie Walnuts a couple grand and he'd do it without all the religious weirdness

We watched What We Left Behind last night and found it unbalanced. Seems to me that Avery Brooks is quite self absorbed and that Ira Steven Behr has a God complex - as well as that ridiculous blue beard. I did enjoy watching the writer's creative process unfold.
Do you really think the captain of a space station 9000 light years from Earth 400 years in the future is going to be concerned with 20th century politics and racial prejudices? He made an excellent captain but all that seemed out of place to me. You think the captain of a modern nuclear aircraft carrier today is overly concerned about Jacobites or Puritan colonies? Hell, you probably couldn't even speak and make yourself understood to a person of that period much less figure out what their opinions are.
Mark Alaimo is just plain creepy admitting he 'wanted' Nana Visitor. Well, admittedly who didn't? She's like Scully's sister but you can't just blurt that out right in front of her.
I'd say Khan takes the cake as the #1 franchise villain with Gul Dukat right behind him. In that video Alaimo looks like my creepyass Uncle Bob picking up bottles from the roadside. Ick.
The rest of the cast seemed as expected althoughwe didn't hear too much from them. Andrew Robinson who absolutely owned Garak and chewed up every bit of scenery he was near, probably my favorite character. He'd make a good successor to Vincent Price in horror films. Oh, and sorry Ira but Garak's not gay and isn't in love with Dr.Bashir. Maybe it was best to end it right where it did after all.

You have to admit, The Next Generation also took a few seasons to hit its stride, the first and part of the second seasons are those I revisit the least of TNG, but I can say the same for Voyager, with the exception of two or three episodes...Back then a season of Voyager had about 26 episodes, not sure about TNG, I think they were about the same...
Season three of Enterprise is outstanding, the very best of that series...The last episode of season two is the cliffhanger for season three, well worth binge watching...
