Clouds on Mars: This is a set of eight images taken by MarsCuriosity's right navigation camera, spanning a period of about five minutes. The rocky outcrop in the foreground is a ~7 m-tall cliff of layered sediments nicknamed by the rover team "Mont Mercou".
A helicopter landed on Martian soil on Saturday as NASA prepares for the Ingenuity to make its first flight on the Red Planet. The $85 million drone is a technology demonstration to test powered flight on another world for the first time and is expected to 'take off a few feet from the ground, hover in the air for about 20 to 30 seconds, and land,' according to NASA. The helicopter was dropped from the Perseverance rover on Saturday, which arrived at the fourth rock from the sun in February. The flight is expected to take place on April 11 and last for 90 seconds without getting higher than 10 feet off the ground.
