Scientists believe pink grasshoppers, however rare they may be, don't survive long in the wild because they're easily found by predators.

This isn't necessarily true because a predator may not see this color of insect as food. Just as a Great White Shark does not look upon humans as it's natural food. It does happen, but it does not make the shark a threat to our species.

That's a (male) mandarin duck. They have been introduced to Britain, and I see them quite often by local bodies of water. I don't think the colours are reproduced properly in that photograph, though. Here is a better representation of the colours, the pink parts are actually orange:

It might not look like nature photo, but it is actually nature at its core. Although this is a movie of an drop of water dancing on a carefully focused sound wave, this is very similar to how an electron cloud is dancing between various orbitals around atomic nucleus in quantum world.
The ultimate beauty is that each of these harmonic modes can be described with mathematics.
