The most important thing to consider is this - All biological life forms are based upon certain paradigms of existence - They ingest and digest other forms of life, something a machine would not need to do.
Tha machine might decide that biological life is primitive and out of date, and decide to replace it.
BUT what is the 'self' that would drive a machine? - What does it want? - What objectives would it have?
As we are constructing all machines, including computers and AI to serve its creators, Man - What kind of self would a machine have with its primary servitude function lost? - Another words its more than just emotions
we're talking about - We're talking about what is the machines' psyche, its soul?
I can imagine some really intelligent robots and then androids - But what I, and many others, keep postulating and talking about, fully conscious, aware and 'self-motivating' AI machines is really a complete unknown!
But if you believe in the once again somewhat popular old theory of Panpsychism {everything is conscious},
which might be extended into the possibility of a universe which also possesses a consciouness.........?
Then the purpose of the advanced intelligent machine may already be there - We just don't know what
it is - I suppose religious thinkers will extend this to their own ideology - Do they still call the computer
'the beast'? - Maybe their right?
One way or the other progress, including advancing AI will continue - And it is interesting that some of its
most important developers such as Bill Gates, and now Elon Musk, are the most vocal in warning about
where it may leed.
