Robert Dean: what do you think of him?

Couldn't find a thread on Bob Dean using the search function so I guess I'll make one. What do you think of Robert Dean? He is a retired U.S. military guy who claims to have been part of an investigation of the UFO phenomenon while stationed at Supreme Headquarters, Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE). He speaks about his experiences frequently, claims to have seen documents confirming the E.T. hypothesis. Additionally, he states that he has had E.T. contact since he was a child and has an ongoing relationship with them.

What I find interesting about him is, he states that his experiences with aliens basically confirm the essential truth of most world religions:
a. there is a god or supreme being who creates and orders life everywhere
b. humanity and other life forms were intentionally created, and not a matter of chance
c. there is life after physical death
d. we will be judged for our actions in this life
e. there is a better future for humanity, which could be termed salvation

These beliefs were not formed by the typical religious revelation (visit from an angel, seeing Virgin Mary, etc.), but his experience with aliens, particularly when they took him to their home world for six weeks. His experiences remind me of the Biblical accounts of prophets such as Ezekiel, Daniel, and John of Patmos, who all received something of a sneak peek at divine worlds and future events. To me, that is more tantalizing than "UFOs are real and the government is covering it up."

Don't get me wrong, I'm not wholeheartedly endorsing him or anything. I just think it is neat how his story forms a juncture of ufology and religion. I think the two fields of study have alot more in common than most people have considered.

Bob Dean has some really good insights and information. The only problem I have with him is that when he gives lectures he tends to go on and on in a sermon-like way.

I actually don't mind that. I guess I'm used to it from years of listening to college professors drone on for hours.

The problem with Robert Dean is this... His one story is from the mid 1960s. He has managed to drag it out all these years and make a career out of his one tale.

True, however he states he has had ongoing experiences with aliens throughout his life. His more recent interviews talk about those encounters, as well as the beliefs he has formed.

Dean is probably smart enough to know he has to expand his one big story if he wants to be asked on the UFO talk circuit repeatedly.

he is a maybe, his story isn't too far out, in the other direction he infamously used a overexposed image of a saturn 5 stage as being a NASA picture of a UFO

I would never say that it is. Urology is not my religion, however I am intrigued by the large overlap between the two. Ufology and religion are two means by which people try to find truth and meaning which is unavailable elsewhere.

I believe that he may have had the exposure and experiences he claims while in the Military, but much of what he claims beyond that I take with a small grain of salt.

Was not aware that Urology was a religion.

Will be more careful when I do doctor's visits.

I recall him from a long time ago. Like one of the early horn blowers from way back in the olden days, from way back when my hair was dark brown and I weighed 40 lbs less.

If he's still alive then he's been around all right. Good lord must be in his 90's I would think.
I recall him talking about seeing a document from a safe about aliens and not much else. Back then I was impressed by that and I believe him. I'm sure that if there are aliens here, and there are, then the Oberkommando would have some information, they would have to because I'm sure their superiors and their contacts would want to capture any technology and or aliens that they could.

The way my dentist carries on, you would think that her trade was a religion. Last visit she was trying to convince me to buy a device called a water pick. She wasnt selling them or anything, just was pushing this thing like it was a piece of the original cross. I guess Saint Peter is going to check my gum pocket depth before I am allowed through the pearly gates.

I got the same treatment at my dentist. They wanted me to get a Waterpik. I said No and gave them no reason as to why. They also asked what mouthwash I use. I told her the one my wife buys. I guess my answers weren’t proper enough for them.
