I've seen this type of "demolition fail" before.. 2 stager and not falling like a tree... I'm surprised demolition experts haven't figured this out.
So for it to work they should have set up the direct opposed side with explosives and cut.. counter intuitive. I think it's too unpredictable, (maybe do some software simulations first?).
