It certainly seems impressive, it's a shame, a lot of the architecture looks like it would be quite amazing to see in person...

From the sounds of it, just a few months ago, progress is being made in making guided tours available in the future, if it doesn't get auctioned off...

The waters around North Brother Island is called Hell Gate because many ships have been lost. There's also a Hell's Kitchen in New York.

The term "held captive" did make me chuckle though.

It looked like an interesting place.......but I can understand why its off limits.

It looks interesting and like something you'd see an "urban explorer" post a lot of interesting pictures and videos of, but I agree people could get hurt if they attempted things when the structures might not be sound...

That's the reason why its off limits.......the city has something called liability. I did see someone walking around the island in an abandoned places TV shows.
