I don't think Zahi Hawass or the Antiquities dept in Egypt are going to let them dig it up . They won't even let them drill test holes anymore to search for cavities. The entire Giza plateau is honeycombed with cavities , shafts and anomalies. They know they are there just no one is going to do anything about them. Wouldn't that be something to find the Hall of Records under there , intact and full of papyrus scrolls.

I remember a story told by Omm Sety ( Dorothy Eady) , she said she was walking her dog near Campbells tomb at night when she saw what looked like a girl dressed in Ancient Egyptian clothing, she said she could see her hair and dress blowing in the breeze . Her dog pulled away from her and lunged at the apparition and went right thru it. The dog yelped and ran off for home. She then noticed that the 'girl' was looking right at her and pointing down into the Campbell's tomb shaft , then it disappeared, leaving Omm Sety alone in the moonlight. Campbells tomb is supposed to be another way into the Hall of Records.

I can understand why they don't want anyone excavating under the sphinx......but since the Giza Plateau is limestone there will no doubt be cavities since it hasn't always been a desert climate.
