A huge shadow crossed the lawn; looking up into a pecan tree, Mrs. Hilda Walker and Judy Mayer, 14, saw a man 6.5 ft tall with wings like a bat, dressed in gray or black tight fitting clothes and surrounded by a glow of yellow light. After 30 seconds, the light died out, and Judy screamed. There was a loud “swoosh,” and a white flash like a torpedo shaped object over the housetops across the street. Howard Phillips, 33, also saw the “batman.”

M. Lacambre, a forester, reported seeing at the edge of a brook a little man 3’2” tall, wearing wide brown leather girdle, boots, and a slip. Under each arm the small entity carried an object in the shape of a pear. Surprised, the witness runs back to his cabin and grabs a shotgun. Upon returning he sees the small being, bending over the brook drinking water from his hands, it then collects some stones, which he puts in his belt and when Mr. Lacambre approaches to within 12 meters from the humanoid he hears the humanoid emit a sound similar to “ortou” or “ortin”. The humanoid then flies up vertically and disappears. Footprints were found at the site.

Angiolino Caciolli was walking on a path near his home when he noticed at the end of the path a strange female human-like figure visible from the waist up. It wore what appeared to be a blue smock that covered her face. At first the witness thought it was a gypsy woman but then he noticed that it was gliding slowly just above the ground. The witness walked by it and turned to see it rise up into the air emitting a wind-turbine like sound, it then disappeared.

Renzo Pugina, 37, a stock cubes salesman was parking his car in the garage of his villa, he was returning from seeing a movie. Pugina noticed a soft glow in the park of the villa, but he attributed this to the moon. After he had parked the auto, Pugina reportedly ascended one flight of stairs connecting to the principal lane of the villa, when he observed a strange figure at the top of the steps, adjacent to a tree. The creature was 1.3m tall, and presented his left side to the witness. According to one of the main press sources for the case, Pugina stated that he recognized the being to be a “Martian”. “He couldn’t have been anything but a Martian!” The creature was surrounded by a soft, warm light and appeared to be encapsulated in armor. It wore a helmet which was transparent in the front, and it seemed that most of the light emitted by the creature was concentrated at the top of its head. The upper part of the body (up to half of his trunk) was covered in slightly luminous overalls comprised of metallic scales---“like a fish”---while the rest was contained in a great “pipe” 50cm high and 20 centimeter wide (no legs were visible). A much smaller pipe was attached horizontally to the first one, remaining just centimeters above the ground. This was approximately one fathom in length (or 1.5 meters, according to one source). Nearly at the end of this pipe was a luminous disc “as large as a bicycle wheel.” Its upper part was dome-shaped and orientated horizontally over the pipe, but there was no apparent contact between the two elements. Pugina started to climb the steps, but after a few seconds, the creature rotated his trunk towards the man, to his left. He also slowly rotated his head, as if manipulated by some mechanism. The creature held a type of flashlight in its right hand, inside of this was something like a light bulb which produced a faint illumination. The device was directed at the witness who, simultaneously, felt paralyzed (one source claimed that Pugina was struck by a beam of light). The witness remained in this state for some time. Pugina noticed that the outer features of the creature’s face were rather normal yet striking, featuring almost no forehead and eyes that were almond-shaped. Its face was olive in shade “as if it had been splashed with car motor oil.” One Pugina grasped a bunch of keys in one of his hands, he regained control of his body . Pugina advanced a few further steps toward the creature , pronouncing in Italian just one word “Marte!” (Mars!). He did this in order to communicate to the being to not leave. The creature appeared to grimace, while Pugina advanced another step in its direction. At this point, the creature alighted one meter off the ground and flew away along the lane of the villa, maintaining a flight path below the tree branches. The being produced a soft buzzing noise. Pugina ran along the lane, but the creature disappeared behind a curve. The entire sighting lasted but a few minutes. The witness’s wife was sleeping but she woke up as a result of Pugina’s hasty arrival. He was in shock, could not speak, and was shivering. Pugina’s wife said that her husband shivered all night long. The press reported that Pugina remained in bed for two days as a consequence of his encounter. Evidential trace was found on the gravel of the villa’s lane the following day. It was odorless, dry and greaseless. One or two days afterwards, this trace area had greatly expanded. The local Carabinieri claimed that Pugina was a “normal” individual not known to drink or to suffer from psychological problems.

Mrs Irene Sarris and Mr. Socrates Caraliamis saw a flying object, which was emitting a blinding light. The UFO had the shape of a basket, and for a while it was heading to Antimachia, but suddenly changed course and went away. That same night, a Mr. George Cacamoundis, saw a “winged man” crossing the sky over the village, at roughly the same time with the luminous UFO. The witness, terrified, sought to hide in a nearby church, where he stayed for a long time refusing to come out.

Gricignano Di Aversa, Caserta, Italy

A 100-year old farmer, Giovanni Aquilante, departed his home to go to work. He would not return. The evening of the second day following his disappearance, two of Aquilante’s sons and another relative were returning home from searching the area for the old man when next to their home they encountered two odd looking figures hiding beyond a low wall. The beings had phosphorescent eyes. The three men were utterly petrified by the vision---but after a number of seconds one of Aquilante’s sons (Andrea) managed to move and run towards the two “phantoms”. By the time he got to the rear of the wall, the figures had vanished. The following day at about 6am, the elder Aquilante returned home. He was in shock and hungry, yet not tired. He did not respond to the many questions of his wife and sons. Despite the fact that it had rained over the previous two days during which he went missing, Aquilante’s clothing was completely dry, even his shoes. A few hours later, one of Aquilante’s relatives was told a story by him. The morning, on which he had left his house, he was passing the village’s railroad bridge when two “dwarves” suddenly emerged from behind a bush. They wore suits, “having colors like the rainbow.” Both beings took the man by his hands and lifted him skyward. The creatures appeared extendable; they alternated between resembling “dwarves” and then “giants”. Aquilante didn’t recall how he had spent the 48 hours away from his home. He communicated that he continued to fly in the sky---then the creatures left him right next to his house telling him that they would return to get him again. According to one of his sons, Paolo, his father suffered much from the experience; Aquilante lived in a nearly perpetual “confused state” and had difficulties speaking. The old man was regularly frightened that “they might come back to get me.”

Time: late afternoon
Manuel Gonzalez Vazquez and his neighbor Erminda where in a field tending some cattle when they felt a slight tremor that lasted for a few minutes. Moments later they saw an undetermined figure inside “screen-like” image in the sky. The figure had a definite human shape. Seconds later they spotted a second flying figure approaching under the clouds. As the figure approached they could tell that it was a female figure, flying at 3 meters above the ground. It resembled an 18-year old girl, a little over a meter in height. Her hair was gathered up in a bun and was wearing a light turquoise colored cloak. The woman flew by the two witnesses and turned to look at them but did not say anything. It eventually glided away and disappeared from sight.

The witness was standing outside next to his pick up truck when he noticed something in the sky resembling a kite descending. As it came closer the witness realized that it was a strange winged creature almost 8 to 9 feet tall, flying about 15 feet above the ground. Its wings were silvery and polished and had multi colored lights on its underside, it had a breastplate with dials that the being seemed to be manipulating with his hands. The being’s face was demonic in appearance; it had large watery blue eyes and leathery wrinkled skin. As the being flew above the witness, he felt temporarily paralyzed and heard a hissing sound.

On Christmas night a group of children were on their way to one of their houses to pick up some coats and were crossing an empty field when suddenly a short dark humanoid figure crossed the field in front of them going from east to west. It was flying in the air at about 4meters above the ground, and disappeared from sight slowly ascending into the sky. Terrified the children ran to their homes.

Severino Maricoy, his cousin and two other men were fishing in a local lake near the shore across from the house of a local named Damian Llaito. The men were quietly eating some bread when they suddenly noticed the door of Llaito’s house opening and a bright glow appears. The house became completely encased in a bright glow and within the glow three man-like figures appeared, these were about 2 meters in height. After a minute the luminous figures floated over towards the witness’s boat at about 4 meters above the ground. These then descended to just above the water and floated silently staring at the witnesses. Suddenly one of the witnesses made a slight move and this seemed to startle the luminous figures that suddenly rose up and disappeared at incredible speed behind the nearby San Jose de Chauques hills. Moments later the men entered the house of Llaito and found him soundly asleep unaware of what had just transpired.

Vitko Novi and another man, Adrian Perez were hunting in an isolated area when Adrian noticed on a large nearby clearing a large disc shaped object apparently on the ground. Near the object they could see a herd of sheep and goats and what appeared to be a group of shepherds sitting around a bonfire, these included children. Curious, both men decided to approach the object and the shepherds. Perez pointed out to Novi that he had seen similar objects in the region many times before. Upon arriving at the bonfire they were greeted with suspicion by the local shepherds, who seemed to resent their presence. Sitting among the locals were two of the tall strangers who greeted them warmly. Novi noticed that the two men resembled a curious mixture of all earth’s races, with pinkish tone skin, large dark slanted eyes and Nordic noses. They exuded a feeling of sympathy and well being. One of the men approached Novi and began speaking with him; Novi noticed that the stranger wore a type of tight-fitting outfit resembling nylon. In the chest area they had fives of rows of buttons (3 on each row). They wore simple stocking-like shoes and tight-fitting hoods over their heads, leaving their faces visible. At this point the witness noticed that the face appeared to be covered by a thin transparent veil. After explaining to Novi their purpose of their visit to the region the visitor stood up and put on a pair of large white gloves. He walked away a few meters and seemed to press one of the buttons on his chest. At this point the fabric around his waist, wrist, and ankles seemed to inflate into cone shaped sacs. The visitor then shot up into the air and flew effortlessly over the top of the nearby trees. He circled briefly around and then landed smiling next to the witness. The stranger explained that this had been a small example of what they were capable of doing. He again mentioned that their point of origin was the planet Apu located outside of our Milky Way galaxy. As it was getting late both witness bade goodbye and left the area, but Novi promised to return to meet the aliens again.

A 50-year old religious woman was riding in the car driven by her husband when about half way to Kemi she observed a flying “man” on the right side of the car. The man was flying in a standing position with hands out in front some 200 meters from the road and 300-400 meters over the forest the same direction of the vehicle. He was flying a little slower than the car was driving (80-90 km per hour) so he was slowly left behind. The man was clad in a silvery or metallic suit and had a helmet. When she later saw astronauts on TV she said that they were similar to what she saw. She observed the man for 2-4 minutes and could see him clearly, but did not see any planes or other vehicles in the air. Her husband did not want to look at the flyng man, though she insisted he did, and in fact never believed her story.

Farmer Manuel Hernandez was returning home from the fields walking on Los Morales County Road when at about 100 meters away from him he observed a disc shaped object. The craft was metallic and had a protruding rim that reflected the early morning sunlight. Carefully, he approached to within several meters of the object, which appeared to be about 3 meters in diameter. Suddenly out of nowhere and without any opening becoming visible on the object, several bizarre beings appeared. The humanoids flew around the object and over the nearby field. Afraid, Hernandez began moving away from the area and noticed that the creatures appeared to be short in stature with bird-like wing-like protrusions and gray-green skin color. He could not distinguish any facial features, but did see that the strange humanoids wore dark coveralls and transparent glass helmets that covered their heads. Terrified he ran all the way home. Later, upon returning to the site with several family members, the object and the bizarre creatures were nowhere in sight.

Mr. & Mrs Steve Mallette & Mr. & Mrs Roger Scarberry reported that their car was followed about midnight by a gray "bird like creature" 6-7 ft tall with a 10 foot wingspan. When the car headlights struck, its eyes, 2" in diameter, glowed red. It finally scurried into a field and disappeared.

Richard West called police to report that a "batman" was sitting on a roof next to his house. "It looks like a man 6 ft tall & has a wingspread of 6-8 ft," he said. "It had great big red eyes. It flew straight up like a helicopter.
