We could spot advanced aliens by monitoring 'space junk' | Daily Mail Online
Astronomers often use the 'transit method' - where light from a star observably dips as a planet travels in front of it - to find exoplanets.
One expert has now suggested we could use this same method to spot space junk such as satellites, solar panels and other objects in geostationary orbit.
Find this interesting not because it is immediately usable (the quantity of satellites required to be orbiting a planet for detection is fairly high) but for the implications. Are larger objects like the ISS making us detectable?
Are we reaching the point where it will necessary to decide and who should be making that decision?
