PUTIN'S REVENGE

See video here:
Putin's Revenge

"FRONTLINE tells the inside story of how Vladimir Putin came to see the United States as an enemy — and why he decided to target an American election."

"As Russian troops launched a wide-ranging attack on Ukraine this week, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned other countries any attempt to interfere would lead to “consequences you have never seen.” In 2017's two-part documentary Putin’s Revenge, FRONTLINE detailed how Putin came to power and how he came to see the West as an enemy."

How Ukraine's defiant forces are holding back Putin with $5m missile drones from Turkey, UK's 2,000 next-gen tank-destroying rockets and Javelins from the US (as well as ammunition for 1950s artillery from the Czechs!)

Troops are desperately trying to repel Putin's military onslaught, with the national guard taking up defensive positions across Kyiv and residents urged to make Molotov cocktails in a battle for control of the capital. Yesterday Ukrainian soldiers used shoulder launched guided missiles to take out Russian tanks and helicopters, after being sent thousands of 'self-defence' weapons by a number of countries in the West. The UK has shipped 2,000 of the next generation light anti-tank (NLAW) weapons to Ukraine, while the US last month sent a plane loaded with 300 Javelin missiles worth some $50million to Kyiv. Other countries, including Turkey, the Czech Republic and Estonia have also followed suit, but nations including Hungary, Germany and Belgium ruled out supplying weapons to counter Putin. From cutting edge drones to artillery that was first designed in the 1950s, MailOnline looks at what military aid has been sent to help Ukraine, and which Western nation it has come from.

.

Somewhere I read that some of the artillery ammo we used in Iraq at the beginning was of Korean War vintage. Wouldn't surprise me - that stuff has an incredibly long shelf life if stored properly. They periodically stir the pot and repackage the stuff.

It would be nice if Ukrainian troupes would actually defeat Russians and than actually Putin is brought down by Russian people. That would be great semi-happy-end.

It happened before, in 1905 when Russia lost war with Japan, there were big demonstrations in St. Petersburg demanding Russian Car to resign.

The Ukrainians aren't playing the game Putin wants. They are resisting and I have to admit, Zelensky struck the right chord. In Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani just took off with the money. The Russians will eventually overwhelm them but they are losing the public relations battle big time. You never know how 'real' any of this is - but it looks that way and that's what's important. Putin can't speechify or threaten away the visceral response to this - especially including Russians.

On the second day of fighting Russians are already having 3,500 dead soldiers. That's about 1.5% of total invasion force of 150,000. At that rate Russian casualties are going to be around 30% in next 10 days. Russian army is known for its low quality. How many American soldiers died during occupation of Baghdad?

I have read that, in the later days of Vietnam, American troops would patrol the same "safe" areas over and over to avoid enemy contact. They knew Nixon was looking for a way to get out without being seen as defeated, and getting out alive was the only thing that mattered. Perhaps the Russian troops will begin doing this sooner than later, especially if Putin gets more resistance at home.

A fraction of that during the invasion - which incidentally had to be projected half way around the world, not just next door. Far more during the occupation. Add to that the frustration of the occupation on parts of the military that led to crimes like those at Abu Ghraib. Hard to see an up side to this for Putin.

Donald Trump praises ‘pretty smart’ Vladimir Putin for Russia’s Ukraine invasion
im-492145

“I mean, he’s taking over a country for $2 worth of sanctions. I’d say that’s pretty smart.”

That was former President Donald Trump referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

Hours before the assault on Ukraine began, video footage of Trump praising Putin, taken during a fundraiser at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida, went viral. A tweet of the 31-second video drew almost 555,000 views and was shared a couple thousand times by Thursday morning — even as world leaders were widely condemning Russia’s attack on Ukraine."

WELCOME TO THE "NEW WORLD ORDER" ?!?!?!

These words of Trump won't age well. He just bit his own tail.

There is more going on in the conflict than the battle for Kiev. Putin forcing the surrender of Ukraine may not be his primary objective. A bonus to him if he achieves it, but perhaps not his main aim. His primary objective may be to forge a land bridge between Russia and the Crimea, perhaps taking in the south and east of Ukraine from Luhansk to Odessa leaving the remains of Ukraine a landlocked country without a port. Crimean agriculture dried up after Russia annexed the peninsula in 2014 because the Ukrainians dammed the North Crimea Canal, which provided almost all of the freshwater for irrigation to the region. Russia may therefore wish at the least to connect the Kherson region and the Crimea with Russia.

Putin has assembled a large force for this campaign, but it is well short of western intelligence estimates of that required for full occupation of the country. He may instead be using his forces to distract, and tie-up the Ukrainians by attacking the capital and the north west region, and have some glimmer of hope of forcing a surrender if he can successfully appeal to Ukraine's military to capitulate (as he attempted to do yesterday). But his focus may actually be the south east. There is not much information on what is going on outside of the capital at the moment.

As I wrote this I learned that Russia has destroyed the North Crimea Canal dam that the Ukrainians erected in 2014, according to reports.

Russian forces destroy dam
Russian forces have destroyed a dam in Ukraine, Reuters reports.

The dam was built in 2014 in the Kherson region to cut off water from the annexed Crimea region.

Reuters says: “Ukraine cut off the fresh water supply to Crimea by damming a canal that had supplied 85 per cent of the peninsula’s needs before Moscow annexed Crimea in 2014.

“The Soviet-era canal was built to channel water from the River Dnieper to arid areas of Ukraine’s Kherson region and Crimea.”

I find it rather funny when the Trump haters grasp on his every word and expound upon it, no matter how ridiculous his words are...Why even pay attention to the fool, I dont because he is in no position of power and can do no more harm...Unlike the current idiot we have for President who can and already has done serious damage to our country because of his incompetence...We have three more long years of his crap unless he kicks the bucket, but then we would be in even worse shape with that VP of his who laughs at everything like a hyena does...The immediate future doesn't look good for our country but no sense working about it either, just have to make the best of the situation...

Before the invasion when they said 150k - 190k Russian troupes were ready I was thinking to myself that's not enough for a Ukraine with 50M people and an active army of 100k+. Remember, beside the war in Ukraine Russia has to protect the longest border in the world. They have to keep reserves everywhere.

This guy nailed Putin's every move 6 years in advance. He said that Russia will not occupy Ukraine ( that would be 2nd Afghanistan ), "Russia will wreck Ukraine" and leave. Then once everything of value had been destroyed Ukraine can join whomever it wants. His words, not mine.

Amazing the stuff that comes out of his mouth.
You see that's the thing about Putin too - This war in the Ukraine is more than anything Putin's war.
- Watch the 'Frontline' video I posted:
See video here:
Putin's Revenge

And see how Putin's thinking evolved from being a trained and loyal KGB officer to boss and dictator of Russia
and you will see the real root of what is now going on in the Ukraine.

Would, or could Trump be as bad? - Probably not as he still has to answer to the Republican Party which some think
he now controls? - we will see. But the point is when any leader becomes more obsessed with himself than is good for
the country he leads - then that country will start to slip into a dictatorship.
Putin is fighting and getting away with it because many Russians miss the good old days when they were neck and neck
with the United States for Worldwide dominance. Trump should realize that is not going to happen here
- And many of his former supporters, such as me, can no longer stand him !
The fact that there is a faction of voters who hate Liberals is the only reason Trump has any real voting power.
But any charisma he may have had was lost when he tried to overturn the 2020 election.

Putin may have gotten away with declaring himself Russian dictator n chief in the former Soviet Union.
- But anyone trying to do that here in the United States will find it is not going to happen !

Russian artillery and cruise missiles pound Kyiv: Ukrainian civilians work through the night making Molotov cocktails and volunteers with AK-47s dig in to defend capital city from renewed assault as air raid sirens sound

Residents of Kyiv took shelter on Saturday night as explosions and street fighting signaled another Russian push to take the Ukrainian capital. Defiant President Volodymyr Zelensky said Kyiv remained under Ukrainian control as Russian forces renewed their assault under the cover of darkness, pounding the capital with artillery and cruise missiles. 'We will fight as long as it takes to liberate the country,' Zelensky said in an video address on Saturday night. He revealed that a baby girl was born Saturday night in the subway of Kyiv, now converted to a bomb shelter. 'If children are born in shelters, even when the shelling continues, then the enemy has no chance,' he said. 'To Victory! Glory to Ukraine!' Air raid sirens and heavy weapons fire reverberated through the city, as Ukrainian soldiers and civilian volunteers dug in to repel warmonger Vladimir Putin's forces.
