Covid-19 is a serious threat. We need to prepare, not overreact - STAT
So, After examining the medical records of about 18% of Italy’s coronavirus fatalities, only three victims had no previous pathology. 99% of the victims had underlying health conditions, with 50% suffering from at least three prior illnesses.
My thoughts:
For a virus to succeed in spreading, it must not kill its host. In other words, a virus by it's own nature does not want to kill. It wants its host to live.
Viruses that kill do not spread as well as viruses that do not kill.
As a result, viruses tend to become less deadly over time not more deadly.
Here is how I see this virus play out... Initially it kills many and scares us, but as time goes on the stronger and healthier hosts survive and there are less and less of the vulnerable people to kill.
The stronger virus that kills is less spread while the weaker mutations of the virus continue on. As a result, weaker mutations dominate and as the contagion spreads, more and more people who catch the virus will get through it with only a bad cold. Less will die.
Some of the people that get it will die... but math wins against the virus by it's own nature, and humanity survives with less loss than we currently worry about. Eventually, numbers will show that the number of deaths is about the same percentage as the flu.
