As I showed in the attachment I uploaded, (to which this attachment is an updated image) I prefer to look at the closed cases only to gauge the percentage of deaths thus far...To me this is the most logical view to take because we do not know which of those currently infected are going to have a happy ending or not...Also we cannot, (in my opinion) count those who have not been infected yet for the same reason...This percentage does fluctuate some, because some months we've had a higher death rate than others, but we are seeing real hard numbers, closed cases instead of one consisting of estimates...Also I might add I have little doubt there are more closed cases that aren't included, not everyone in the world are reporting accurately and inclusively of the whole population, so really any approach to gauge a rate of death isn't wholly precise...

    Screenshot_20201015-184853.jpg

1,092,210 covid deaths worldwide at the time of me writing that post and I was rounding off the pandemic at 10 full months, however October hasn't completed yet and there were no western deaths from covid in January, so the number of 3640 is an arbitrary number I was using to show how far off the chart you posted was in its accuracy...

New romantic relationships are pretty much cancelled. Which does not affect me.

Hey, is that the future? You have to get tested for everything before you can go on a date? :rose:

My mental health is suffering. I'm finding no joy in anything. Even buster and Samantha have not cheered me up.
My wife is being stoic as well. So much lost.
Kate lost basketball. Debbie lost cheerleading. Ian lost baseball.
My kids are also have issues with bouts of sadness . And now trick or treat is gone as well. And the mall won't have santa. And so it goes.

We are all going to have to find a new normal. Which is exactly what the PTB wanted.

Maybe things will become better with all these changes. I'm just glad I won't be around long enough to have to figure it out.

Hugs to you and your family, Shadow.

I know one thing , since they have introduced self distancing and and hand sanitizing there hasn't been one case of the flu or a cold that has been observed in public in this town this winter.

Why is it safe for kids to return to indoor classes at school, but not safe for them to be outside for Halloween?...

We should keep a list of all these questions. Send them to the CDC.

My great niece, who is three years old, is now at home due to someone on the day care staff tested positive for Covid. I wonder what will happen if this continues to happen. Will the day care shut down and then restart every time there is a positive scare? Other schools must be facing the same dilemma.

A friend is a bus driver and he's on a daily yes/no plan. They've already started & stopped twice since September 14 but are going to keep at it. Same story for Marist College. Don't think Vassar or the Culinary Institute has had to lock down since reopening.

He also mentioned that they've been running regular routes even when the schools are closed to deliver food to the kids that are dependent on school breakfast & lunch. Never thought of that. Glad somebody did.

You need a full-face transparent acrylic shield.

Thats a P100 respirator I'm using, better than the N95 masks and better than using any plastic face shield...Back in March I also wore goggles along with the P100 to protect from the airborne virus from penetrating my eyes,, but back then a lot less people were wearing masks in my area compared to presently...There's still about 10 percent of people in my area who aren't wearing masks in the shops, however at the liquor store they are enforcing mask wearing, if you walk in the liquor store without a mask they will either throw you out or call the police immediately...The liquor store is state operated too...

These times when we're home a lot more and with everything changing all around us, it can easily become less and less joyous as time goes along and as we tend to live more in the mind...When the mind is less joyous it's more difficult to be content with what we have and even less of what we face daily...The power of adapting to the changes and challenges we face does not come from in the mind, the source of that power lies in the body and the feelings...The mind is always looking ahead, to tomorrow, but the body and feelings live for the moment, and if we live more in the body and feelings joy will return because the body and feelings are the only ones that can 'do'...The mind will come around because it wants joy again, it will let go of the sadness if we continue living in the body and feelings, and with a joyous mind back onboard it's ready to face the coming days with a different perspective, and in a different light, because something happens within ourselves when we are living more in the body and feelings, its not positive but certainly not negative nor neutral but a truer balance of all three...This provides the checks and balances the body, mind, and feelings needs to all work together and with that we can recreate our lifestyles to face our challenges in a new light...Without darkness we would not be able to see the light of the stars, with the challenges we face it also brings with it darkness, then we need to let our inner light shine...

I understand the weariness that our country finds itself in over the Covid situation. We were led to believe that the government would get a handle on the pandemic situation. Here we are now more than eight months later and the Covid problem seems worse than from the beginning.

What seems to add to our malaise is that there is no agreement on the political front. Everyone not only disagrees but people are at each other’s throat. When I hear phrases like “ lock them up” or calling people “traitors” because they have an opposing view, I know the country is in deep trouble.

We also seem to have a situation where vigilantes and racists are trying to impose their views and no one is there to stop them. I am beginning to wonder whether a real civil war is around the corner. I think we will have some answers after the November elections take place. There may not be a pleasant outcome.

Yesterday I drove in town to the Walmart and there were roughly only 30 percent of the customers that I saw wearing masks, the other 70 percent were not and there was a considerable amount of people in the store at that time...Wtf

There are a few things that sort of just went away for me with covid.

After a lifetime of going to the gym regularly I stopped and just don't want to go back with the masks and all that. We really don't hit the local restaurants the way we used to, no more car shows, no movies, no mall.

After a few months I realized I thought I missed all that more than I actually do and found other ways to cope. I have come to appreciate some peace and quiet and time to sit and read. Our old house has benefited from all the projects I've done recently. We just sort of turned the dial down and realized that a lot of the stuff we were running around doing wasn't really all that important anyway.

@The shadow I'm sorry to hear you're down.

Yeah it's nice for me to have more time to do some projects around my house, then one day I was thinking, it's time for some Feng Shui...Every room of the house I rearranged a different way, to settle things into a style that better suits me being at home more, and doing this also changed my perspective of the house and I feel even more at home now lol...

Another question to add to the list.

Here in Edmonton, you cannot get into Walmart without a mask. It is mandatory to be wearing a mask in any public space that has a roof and walls. In other words even a bus shelter. This is not a suggestion here. It is the law.

And yet I see people everywhere I go that are not wearing masks. Things are back to the way they were before March. With the exception being a lot of people no longer have jobs. People have to wear masks and keep a 6 foot distance from others.
