President says First Lady Jill Biden was Obama's Vice President - a job he held for EIGHT years - in latest blunder during ceremony to commission Navy's newest nuclear submarine

President Biden, 79, was praising his wife Jill Biden, 70, for her work and commitment to military families after she was named the USSS Delaware's sponsor during its commissioning in Wilmington, Delaware, on Saturday. The White House corrected the president's remark, noting in an official transcript that he meant to reference the first lady's work with then-first-lady Michelle Obama while he was vice president from 2008 to 2016. 'And I'm deeply proud of the work she is doing as First Lady with Joining Forces initiative she started with Michelle Obama when she was Vice President and now carries on,' the White House official transcript reads. The gaffe is the latest in a string of blunders the President has had recently, prompting calls from Republicans demanding he is tested cognitively.

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon slams Biden administration for 'incomprehensible and uncoordinated' policies, crippling cost of regulation and 'dysfunctional' politics

In his letter to shareholders, Dimon said the world was facing a 'confluence of three important and conflicting forces' that made the global economic outlook uncertain. 'These factors will likely have a meaningful effect on the economy over the next few years and on geopolitics for the next several decades,' he warned. He then made a direct appeal to the President to take charge in order for the country to 'regain its competence'.

What a whopper! Burger King ads mislead customers about the size of its burgers by 35%, class action lawsuit claims

The suit, filed Monday in US District Court, claims Burger King brass, through a rash of recent ads for some of its menu items, knowingly deceived customers with images of mammoth-sized menu items noticeably larger than their real-world counterparts. According to the 26-page filing, the fast-food firm 'overstated' several of its menu items - including the iconic Whopper - by as much as 35 percent in misleading marketing images, beefing them up with 'more than double' the meat seen in actual burgers. The suit features a slew of shocking side-by-side comparisons of menu items' beefed-up likeness in the chain's marketing adverts with their relatively wimpy - and sometimes even bite-sized - real-life equivalents. The complaint also contends marketers used 'oversized patties' in shoots for the advertisements, that made menu items look as if they contained 'more than double the meat than the actual burger.'

The lawsuit needs better photos. The ads don't actually show the size in any manner whatsoever.

Good point. Though I don't know if that will be enough for the lawsuit to be allowed to proceed.
On further investigation, the law suit looks as though it would have a good chance of of success in the UK.

“Approximately 12 years ago, Burger King was ordered to stop advertising overstated burgers by the Advertising Standards Authority (“ASA”), the United Kingdom’s regulator of advertising,” the complaint says. The ASA, after examining the burgers “in the hands of an average-sized man” and considering that the burgers “did not fill the hands to the same extent” as the burger in the advertisement, ultimately concluded that “‘the visuals in the advert were likely to mislead viewers as to the size and composition of the product.'”
Class Action Lawsuit Accuses Burger King of Telling a Whopper About the Size of Menu Items

But I don't know how how much leeway US regulators give to advertising.

Deutsche Bank becomes first major bank to forecast US recession for 2023 with unemployment rate rising to 5.1 percent as Federal Reserve tries to quell rampant inflation

Deutsche, the first major bank to make the negative forecast, said the recession will be 'moderate,' but it would serve as yet another blow to already struggling Americans, CNBC reported. 'The US economy is expected to take a major hit from the extra Fed tightening by late next year and early 2024,' the bank's economists said in a note to clients Tuesday. 'We see two negative quarters of growth and a more than 1.5 percent point rise in the US unemployment rate, developments that clearly qualify as a recession, albeit a moderate one.' The prediction comes as the Fed voted to raise interest rates last month by a quarter point for the first time in three years to curb inflation, which is at nearly 8 percent and the highest its been in 40 years (inset).

Now Meghan tries to trademark the word 'archetypes': Duchess bids to stop anyone else using the word - which first appeared in the English language 470 years ago - after deciding to use it for the title of her Spotify podcast

Meghan Markle is now trying to trademark the historic word 'archetypes' after announcing that her first series of podcasts for audio streaming giant Spotify would be called Archetypes. The Duchess of Sussex made the application at the United States Patent and Trademark Office last month which covers the use of 'archetypes', a word which derives from ancient Greek and first entered into English usage around the 1540s. The dizzying list of goods and services involved are 'in the fields of cultural treatment of women and stereotypes facing women'. The application was made by Archewell Audio, one of a complex web of 11 companies established by Harry and Meghan and based in the opaque tax haven of Delaware. It would mean they own the trademark rather than Spotify, which paid them a rumoured £18million in 2020.

Two fake Homeland agents - one 'with ties to Pakistani intelligence and multiple Iranian visas' - spent 18 months 'infiltrating and buying gifts for Jill Biden's Secret Service detail' in luxury DC building where they all lived and partied

The two men arrested in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday who attempted to cozy up to Secret Service agents spent their year-and-a-half living in a luxury apartment building allegedly posing as federal agents with the Department of Homeland Security. Just a mile from the Capitol and three miles from the White House, Arian Taherzadeh, 40, and Haider Sher-Ali, 36, were conducting an operation where they posed as federal agents - tricking a luxury DC apartment building and its high profile residents as well as appearing to convince Metro Police Department that they were working for the government. The question remains, however, on what Ali and Taherzadeh's motives were in getting close to people with White House access by impersonating government agents.

5-Alarm Fire Destroys Home Depot in South San Jose – NBC Bay Area

5-Alarm Fire Destroys Home Depot in South San Jose

A pet hospital in the area was also evacuated.

upload_2022-4-10_6-36-13.jpeg

The fire started at around 5:30 p.m. Saturday. A large plume of thick, black smoke from the blaze on the 900 block of Blossom Hill Road was also seen for miles in the South Bay.

Firefighters said a pet hospital nearby was evacuated and owners were reunited with their pets at Golfland on Winfield.

Wagly Veterinary Hospital and Pet Campus employee Sam Arshop said she sprang into action, rounding up 13 dogs in just two minutes and driving them to safety in her own car.

“It happened so fast. It went from everything normal to smoke filling. Up and not being able to breathe. It happened so quick but in those moments you're thinking, ‘I have to get as many animals out as I can,'” she said.

Employees rescued all the animals, an estimated 60 of them.

According to the San Jose Fire Department, 30 employees and dozens of customers got out safely. But officials added the Home Depot was a total loss.

Fire officials added that they received reports that the fire may have started near the lumber section but they are still investigating the origin of the fire.

The roof collapsed and wind quickly sent smoke and embers into the adjacent neighborhood.
San Jose fire said they asked residents and workers in the area to shelter in place due to the smoke. Fire officials added that nearby residents needed to close all doors and windows to minimize smoke from getting inside their homes.

San Jose fire said no injuries have been reported.

NBC Bay Area crews were the on scene as they reported seeing parts of the roof caving in.

San Jose fire said the fire was put under control at around 11:44 p.m. but firefighters will stay in the area as they continue to battle the hot spots overnight.

Update on Blossom Hill Road/Home Depot: Fire Operations will commence through the night, as several hot spots are still working. Defensive fire operations with master streams are still in place. Fire is now under control at 2344 hours.

No sprinklers?

Not every sprinkler system is in perfect repair and in any case those buildings are filled with thousands of gallons of flammables and a small forest of wood. I wonder if we'll hear how it got started. Fortunately no injuries and I'll just have a good laugh (or fifty ..... )

These are dangerous times we are facing and with a current American government that is utterly incapable of managing so many challenges simultaneously...Our mail ordered president Biden clearly has cognitive issues and vice president Harris is clueless and hopeless...There are so many problems along with so many radically bad decisions being made from our government that just compound the problems...

Below is another example of a radically bad decision the Biden administration has decided to go with...The greater majority of vehicles today are not set up to run efficiently on E15 fuel and its about 20% less fuel efficient than petroleum-based gasoline, so cars end up burning more gas and people will end up spending more money for it...This is just another piss poor decision...

Biden to announce authorization of E15 gasoline in an effort to increase US fuel supply, reduce gas prices
