I've been out in -30F weather and you have to be careful.

When you take off your mitten your hand gets numb with a speed that is a little alarming.

You have to be very careful. Make sure everything but your eyes are covered in layers. Wear some long johns too. Or you will get frostbite. I saw a bunch of idiot University of Vermont students running around in just hoodies and shorts. The hell is wrong with kids these days?

There is a list and it is a long one. But off topic for a weather thread.

I've been out in -30F for three hours at a time. You are right - snorkel jacket and many layers. Most gloves are only good to about -10F, at that point you switch to mittens so your fingers are together.

I do the ol' gloves with mittens over them. Does the trick pretty well. I have a $550 Spyder jacket that is pretty amazing too. But none the less you still get cold as hell. Best to just stay the hell inside when it dips below -10. If you have to go outside make it as quick as possible.

That's still way too hot for me. Is it considered a nice day for you after such high temps?

It's -18C here with winds blowing 30k an hour and snowing. With the windchill, it makes it feel equivalent to -30C which is -22F.

That's one of those Australian rodents isn't it?

Is that an opossum?

Fat little critter. What are you feeding them?

You have Opossums yours look like the proverbial rat ugly little things but cute all the same. Our big brushtails are magnificent they are not marsupials just mammals . They eat my apples and plums and live in my spare chimney during the day. They like nothing better than to eat grapes and jam on bread. .
