One thing I noticed over at the Paracast was that user logins were supposedly hijacked several times. There were a number of "that wasn't me" messages. He said it was a glitch in the XenForo software. Could be I suppose but I hadn't noticed that here. How a product is implemented and administered is part of the security strategy - or maybe isn't in this case.

I highly doubted a 'glitch' of that nature. Not impossible, but lightning seemed to hit the same spot a bit too often over there. Just one more reason we all left. Another peek into the real nature GS, and I suppose Randall too.

What promotions? Is this like the $99 lifetime subscription that nobody cared about? Who wants to advertise on a dead podcast? Typical Schemey style, instead of doing these things years ago, he does them now, after he killed the podcast with his grifting.
Yes those ride sharing gigs, which you don't do, because if you did you would have more than enough money for a decent lifestyle without begging. Yet you still continue the pathetic fantasy so you can keep begging. That is your flawed logic and everyone else can see through it.

This is just illustrative of the kind of person that Schemey is. He doesn't want help. He just wants money. That is all he cares about. He wants money so he can keep doing what he does and it will never end. He will never budget or economise. He will never let anyone else look at his finances. The only conclusion is that he likes this lifestyle despite his protestations to the contrary.

There really isn't much to add but when could I ever resist chiming in?
This guy has now sent over 200 emails this year asking for help, regularly relaying his life challenges in detail. If I am remembering right, and going by his own words, just this year alone: he's been evicted from two apartments, was told to leave two different motels, had his bank account hacked, had his Twitter account hacked, his been tricked by online pranksters multiple times, has overdrawn his bank accounts on more than one occasion, claims he doesn't know if he can afford shelter each morning, and winds up so broke he begs for food from restaurants. He also can't pay most of his bills, or manages his affairs so poorly he is risking losing his possessions and the ability to drive legally. And let's not forget the times he shared his bank account information with the Internet.
Yet when someone tells him it doesn't appear that he can care for himself, his wife and their dog any longer, they have hate in their hearts?
I don't know what Gene has in his heart. I just know it's nothing healthy, and it has not been good for Gene or for his family.
And I know, too, that what Gene really wants in response to his stupid emails is a pity party that takes the form of money pouring in. So he lies and exaggerates. Repeatedly. But I'm also convinced he's a world class fuck up who honestly thinks he knows better than everyone else. He wants a lifestyle he hasn't been able to afford since, well, likely he never could really afford it. So here we are, with him living in not quite the cheapest motel in Mesa, circling the drain but keeping the Paracast light on, trying to get back to the aptly named Desert Mirage, saying whatever he thinks might move some poor schmoe who just wanted to hear people talk about UFOs.

The tragedy of our time is that the Steinbergs have to live within the means afforded them by their ~$1,753/month Social Security benefits. Plus whatever the Paracast and Tech Night Owl might bring in, plus whatever Gene could get if he drove for Uber or Lyft, plus I suppose anything that might still trickle in from Rockoids books sales or some other legacy sources.

Gene was always envious of Jim Moseley, he wanted someone to hand him a wad of cash to live a comfortable lifestyle without doing any kind of genuinely productive work, but unlike Moseley, Gene doesn't have any wealthy family members willing to support his fantasy. From what I know about him, the last thirty years or so, Steinberg has never held a real job, outside of freelance writing, he simply doesn't work, the way any of us would realistically define the word. He claimed to have computer "consulting" clients, I never saw a single piece of evidence to support that contention. Gene claims he gave his BIL over a couple hundred grand in cash, another piece of absolute BS, in his whole sorry life, he's never seen that much cash in his bank account, much less hand it over to someone else from an altruistic motivation. Gene is a LOT of things, generous with money ain't one of 'em. Barbara hasn't worked in forever, she's essentially someone who can do little outside of watching television and posting rescue dog pleas on Facebook, that's it, that's the sum total of her life during the last couple of decades or so, who knows how long she's been a useless lump. Note how we never hear of her trying to find some work of any sort, she's mentally ill and incapable of holding down a job. She belongs in a care facility, she's not capable of taking care of herself, rather obviously.
I can also tell you from direct experience that Gene is amazingly lazy, in the four years I did the Paracast, I can attest that he didn't read a single page of any book we were sent - that became quickly apparent in the pre-interview talks we'd have, I'm fairly certain he was turning right around and putting copies of comp books up on eBay to sell, he never had a clue what the books were about beyond the capsule descriptions on their respective Amazon pages. Anyone who goes back and listens to the archived shows can easily tell that he was barely paying attention to the interviews I was conducting, he'd usually break in and interrupt the flow of the conversation for the "commercial breaks" he claims no one was paying for, which in hindsight, is obviously blatantly untrue, I didn't care about income from the show - money was never a motivator for me to due the Paracast - and Gene capitalized on that reality. My bad, I admit it, though during that fourth year, I started getting a bit more focused on his behavior in this regard, telling him that he needed to start sharing some of the advertising revenues. My sum total take of cash from the show during those four years: $250. I heard him ask guests for "loans" more than once, and you can be sure he knew those "loans" never stood a chance of being paid back, which essentially means he was stealing from them. Contrary to his claims, this is indeed the primary reason I bailed from the show, I didn't want to be associated with this type of sleazy behavior. I've never been close to wealthy or even well-to-do, but I'm proud to say I've been self-sufficient since I left my home at the age of 16, and have never asked anyone for a dime since then, I'm pretty good at surviving on my own. Intrepid individuals have been able to dig up all sorts of financial actions against Steinberg over the years, he has left a wake of defrauded people and companies in his footsteps, protest as he has, the evidence is rather clear: he's a conman, he's been playing money games with folks long before the Paracast, and had I known this in 2006, I would have never done a show with him.
I recently put on last week's episode (I don't tend to listen to it, simply no reason, it sucks and has sucked for some time), and it's clear that Steinberg is pretty much doing what he always did - let the other host conduct the interview, while he mutes his microphone and types out pleas for money in the background, only breaking back in to stop the talking and cut to commercials. It's the only thing he knows how to do - watch the clock.
At this point, I have a hard time believing any of Steinberg's claims, there's no way for any of us to know what's actually going on with him, but based on the ridiculous stories of hotels extending his stay without significant money upfront, bogus bank hacking incidents, ride sharing work, his total silence regarding Social Security payments and repeated copy and paste daily missives, it's clear that he's living in some sort of delusional nightmare and expects someone to magically appear and save him, give him any and all financial help he'll ever need to basically live like Moseley, which as we all know, is nothing short of insane to even consider. If Gene isn't actively engaged in a lower-level version of financial scamming than his deceased BIL was guilty of, the alternative is that he's totally nuts; either is pretty tragic, but hey, he made his bed, now he can lie in it.

It's fascinating from a social psychology point of view how the paranormal and UFOlogy especially seems to attract these overly opinionated unemployed know-it-alls who really know nothing (save a love of their own egos and opinions).

He conforms to the paradox of being blissfully ignorant of how ignorant he actually is. Another example of Dunning-Kruger effect in this field.
It is so hilarious how he wanted to give Steinberg an award for his services to the field (what services?) and when DB told him of Gene's shenanigans he didn't care. It is also obvious he never listened to the paracast or else he would have known that Gene did nothing on the show except counting the ads and talking about himself (or his favourite TV shows).

You hit the nail on the head. The Paracast is littered with “overly opinionated unemployed know-it-all’s who really know nothing.” And to think that years ago those forums had some really thoughtful people over there. How sad it has all become.

His arguments with Thomas are embarrassing. They remind me of a kid in my high school class who liked to argue with this particular science teacher. The teacher was actually a physicist, with a master's degree and experience working for the navy on nuclear subs. T kept saying he was going to make a "perpetual motion machine". No matter how many times H patiently explained the rich history of attempts at such things and why they never worked, T kept it up. He had it all figured out. Had no clue how asinine he made himself look.
