Justice Department is concealing 400 pages of 'sensitive documents' laying bare payoffs and gifts to Hunter and Jim Biden from China, Russia and Ukraine - after admitting the papers DO exist, lawyer claims in suit

Colorado lawyer Kevin Evans sued the Department of Justice in March after it failed to comply with his request for records on the Bidens' business dealings. Evans asked for documents under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). He requested information regarding 'any relationship, communication, gift(s), and/or remuneration in any form' between Bidens and China, Russia or Ukraine. He said government lawyers first admitted in court to having at least 400 pages of 'potentially relevant' documents. Evans claims the DoJ are now trying to get away with saying they can 'neither confirm nor deny' the existence of any records that match his request.

Biden FINALLY unveils plan for border crisis: Venezuelans, Nicaraguans, Haitians and Cubans will be 'rapidly' expelled and just 30,000 will be let in a month, Mexico will take back illegal crossers and migrants can use APPS to make appointments

President Joe Biden will continue to use COVID-19 restrictions to expel border crossing migrants from Cuba, Nicaragua and Haiti, while allowing up to 30,000 people from those countries to enter the U.S. by air monthly. In a lunchtime speech from the Roosevelt Room, Biden outlined the new plan and confirmed that he would be making his first border trip as president, visiting El Paso, Texas on Sunday ahead of the 'three amigos' summit in Mexico on Monday and Tuesday. The announcement, just days into 2023, comes after 2022 brought a record number of migrants illegally crossing the U.S. southern border, with Republicans making the mess one of their top midterm campaign issues. Biden explained that cell phone apps would now be used to streamline the immigration process.

The last time the Speaker vote went on this long in 1859 - it took 44 rounds and two months, Darwin published his theory of evolution, Oregon became a state and the first oil well was drilled

The House passed another historic milestone with Thursday's chaos in the Capitol – holding its 10th vote for speaker for the first time since 1859, with no clear path to resolution for Kevin McCarthy yet.

It was yet another throwback to fractious earlier years in the republic – and in particular to a 19th Century filled with angry political clashes in Congress in the run-up to the Civil War.

The last race to go this long was the 1859 contest that resulted in the election of Speaker William Pennington of New Jersey.

But that didn't happen until the 44th ballot – as the Republican moderate was joined by northern Democrats who were disaffected from the Buchanan administration. (McCarthy extended his losses to an 11th vote Thursday evening).

It was the same year that John Brown staged his raid on the federal arsenal at Harper's Ferry.

The 1859 race came two terms after an 1855 contest that went for 133 ballots and extended four months, in a political fight among slavery and anti-slavery factions that anticipated the Civil War. Nathaniel Banks of the American Party prevailed backed by an anti-slavery coalition.

The Capitol itself was still entering its modern form during the clashes. The House met in its new chambers for the first time in December 1857, and the Senate met in its in 1859.

It was a time of economic and intellectual strides, even though the U.S. was about to be plunged into bloody conflict.

Charles Darwin published his On the Origin of Species, following his extensive voyages about the Beagle.

Drilling began that year on what may have been the country's first commercial oil well in Titusville, Pennsylvania that year, in yet another one of its milestones.

Others included Oregon being admitted as the 33rd state (as an anti-slavery state).

Thursday's clash featured attacks on McCarthy by Colorado Rep.-elect Lauren Boebert, and 1859 featured the start of the Gold Rush in the Colorado territory.

'Kevin McCarthy does not have the votes. Let’s elect a Republican who can unify our conference, who is a true leader,' Boebert – who narrowly won reelection, said as she called for elected Oklahoma Rep. Kevin Hern.

This week's clash has featured repeated flashes of anger and frustration, beginning with a heated meeting of the GOP Conference behind closed doors.

Honestly, I never paid much attention to this entire process. Now that we see is displayed is some sort of embarrassing political flagrante delicto. Well, yet another one frankly in a chain of them recently. Christ on a crutch. I have seen bits and pieces - very few - of British Parliament and never knew what the hell that was all about. Seemed like a lot of impolite shouting to me, a step short of actually hurling rotten fruit or pies at one another. Now I've seen this quackery that looks so much more refined.

Biden REFUSES to explain why ten classified files were found at his think tank's Washington office before midterms - or why DoJ investigation has only now been revealed - after he blasted Trump as 'irresponsible' for failing to return documents

The Department of Justice has launched an investigation to review classified documents from Joe Biden's Vice Presidency found in a Washington D.C. office for his think tank. Attorney General Merrick Garland has called on the U.S. attorney in Chicago to review the 10 files discovered by Biden's personal attorneys at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement six days before the midterms, CBS News reported. It is unclear what the classified documents contain, but follows the raid on Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort last year and as Republicans begin their investigations into the Biden family. The report stated that the documents were found while Biden's attorneys were packing up the office to leave.

'When is the FBI going to the raid the White House?': Trump leads Republican rage as he demands action after ten classified documents were found at Biden's think tank from his time as VP - when he did NOT have power to declassify documents

Donald Trump on Monday urged the FBI to raid Joe Biden's White House, after classified documents were found at Biden's think tank. Trump, still smarting from the FBI's raid of his own Florida home last year, spoke out on social media about what he saw as double standards. Earlier on Monday, the Department of Justice announced that they have launched an investigation to review classified documents from Biden's Vice Presidency found in a Washington D.C. office for his think tank. Attorney General Merrick Garland has called on the U.S. attorney in Chicago to review the 10 files discovered by Biden's personal attorneys at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement six days before the midterms, CBS News reported.

Biden was 'surprised' to learn classified documents were in his D.C. think tank office - and doesn't know what is in them: Promises to cooperate 'fully' with investigation and takes matter 'seriously' in first statement on discovery

President Joe Biden on Tuesday said he was 'surprised to learn' he had classified government documents at his D.C. think tank and said he is 'cooperating fully' with a Justice Department investigation. He said he doesn't know what was in the documents and that his lawyers advised him not to ask. He defended having the cache of classified material - reported to be on the Ukraine, Iran and the United Kingdom - as House Republicans formally announced an investigation into the matter.

BREAKING NEWS: SECOND batch of Biden classified documents found at another location - after President said he was 'surprised' by first discovery and takes the matter 'seriously'

Aides to President Biden have discovered a second trove of classified documents in a different location from the last set, a person familiar told NBC News. The classification level, number and exact location of the documents is still unclear.

On Monday it was reported that attorneys for the president had in November discovered documents at his office in the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C., which he used after his time as vice president. Since the White House said Monday that Biden's attorneys had found 10 documents with classified markings at an old office at a Washington, D.C. think tank, the president has been peppered with questions about the discovery.

Biden was asked about the documents at the top of his trilateral press conference Tuesday in Mexico City, alongside Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The president said he was 'surprised' to find out classified documents were discovered in a box in a locked cabinet. But said his lawyers 'did what they should have done.'

'They immediately called the Archives - immediately called the Archives, turned them over to the Archives,' the president said. The documents were discovered on November 2 and handed over to the Archives on November 3. Biden said he didn't know the content of the documents and that his lawyers suggested he not ask. 'And we're cooperating fully with the review,' the president added.

I must be slipping a little to not have already noticed. Behold, these "discoveries" are very likely jabs by TPTB to persuade Biden not to run, as he has been hinting he would.

Random Factoid:

"The phrase first appeared in the Tyndale Bible, William Tyndale's 1526 translation of the New Testament, as: "Let every soul submit himself unto the authority of the higher powers. There is no power but of God. The powers that be, are ordained of God". In the 1611 King James Version it became, "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: The powers that be are ordained of God." (Rom 13:1),[3] whence it eventually passed into popular language." (Wikipedia)
