Deadly Wuhan Coronavirus

OK boys and girls. Admit it. Raise your hands if true:

who's hoarding?

toilet paper, bottled water, rubbing alcohol, any form of disinfectant of any kind?
As of yesterday, no noticeable hoarding where I live. I'll see tomorrow if there's been a change.

Im gonna buy some dry foods and other things just in case if there comes a situation i have to spend more time at home. Im also gonna make fewer trips to store, public places etc.

Its quite possible in about 2 weeks theres gonna be 400-500 confirmed infected(and who knows how many hidden ones), and in couple of months over ten times as much in here. I live 30 kilometers north of the capital Helsinki, and thats where most of them are now quaranteened or hospitalized. We dotn have any confirmed deaths yet, but its only a matter of time, some people have recovered tough, mostly kids. Id say the first death case(s) will probably be announced within a month from now, maybe.

Almost all of the infected people who have spread this here in Finland have come from a trip to Italy. Some of them foolishly went to work too and now theres more schools put in quarantine. Id hope the government would ban all flights there temporarily, and test and put anyone arriving from there to immidiate quarantine, just in case. Likely not gonna happen tough... sigh. We have this "advice" for anyone returning from Italy to report to healthcare if they have symptoms... well see how long that will help and how many more people they infect meanwhile. I feel much sympathy for the italian people, their country is really going through rough times now, this will not only kill people but hit their economy too.

Well, there's the rest of New York State and then there's NYC. You guys needed extra time to cope with the plastic bag ban.:)
Dunno if hoarding shortages will hit there or not, but I expect so.

I went to the grocery store and Walmart, neither place had toilet paper, not that I needed any but I don't get the toilet paper thing, also almost all bleach and disinfectants are gone, shelves cleaned out...I stocked up a little on dog food and dry items and canned goods for myself, going to stop at the store tomorrow and get more stuff...

Italy announces all shops except pharmacies and food outlets will be CLOSED as coronavirus death toll climbs by 31% to 827 in 24 hours and intensive care units are advise to stop treating the elderly

Italy has said all shops except pharmacies and food outlets will be closed in response to the country's coronavirus outbreak as the death toll from the disease in the country jumped sharply in the last 24 hours. A top Italian doctor said intensive care wards should place an age limit on beds as a way of prioritising medical resources amid the deepening crisis that has seen cases in Italy rise by 196 to 827 today. Rather than admit patients on a 'first come first served' basis, hospitals should swap to 'catastrophe medicine' guidelines - typically used in war zones and during natural disasters - where those with the greatest chance of survival are given priority. The guidelines should apply to all patients needing intensive care treatment and not just those suffering from coronavrius, according to guidance published this week by the Society of Anesthesia, Analgesia, Resuscitation and Intensive Care (SAARI).

Denmark becomes second country in Europe to go on coronavirus lockdown as Prime Minister announces all schools, kindergartens and universities are to close for two weeks

Denmark is on coronavirus lockdown, making the country the second in Europe to grind to a halt as the life-threatening disease rips across the continent.

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen declared that all Danish schools, universities, and kindergartens will be shut for two weeks to slow the spread of the bug.

Tough new measures will also include banning indoor events with 100 or more participants, and sending non-critical public sector employees home.

Private sector workers will also be encouraged to work from home, after the Danish Patient Safety Authority reported 442 new cases yesterday.

New Rochelle's coronavirus one-mile ghost town: Pictures from inside New York's first containment zone show deserted streets, empty restaurants and closed schools

The coronavirus hotspot in Westchester County accounts for more than 120 of NY's 217 confirmed cases. Pictures from inside the containment zone show deserted streets, empty restaurants and closed schools. The National Guard is being brought in to help with cleaning public spaces and delivering food to people. Radius centers around the Temple Young Israel of New Rochelle synagogue that was attended by Manhattan attorney Lawrence Garbuz who has been linked to the outbreak in the area. The shutdown will begin Thursday and last for two weeks and will effect all 'major gathering places'. Officials said the closures will not effect businesses but images taken Wednesday show a different picture. Gov. Andrew Cuomo said people will not be contained and residents are free to come and go with the one-mile radius but it appears those living in the zone are taking more aggressive action.

Dr. Fauci warns coronavirus is TEN TIMES more lethal than seasonal flu and millions of Americans will be infected in an outbreak that will 'only get worse'

Dr. Anthony Fauci warned on Wednesday the coronavirus situation in the United States is going to get worse and 'many, many millions' will be affected.

His warning came as 33 people in the United States have died, the number of infected topped 1,000, the stock markets tanked and several schools said they would move to online classes after spring break out of fears of infection.

'Bottom line, it's going to get worse,' Fauci, the director of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said at congressional hearing on the outbreak.

He warned millions will be affected.
