To be fair, Gene's 2016 bankruptcy petition reported $1753 in joint social security income and just over $1000 in the average monthly income from the Paracast LLC.

That isn't crazy money. We probably all know financial trainwrecks and how they can piss money away regularly. He probably could have maintained his Paracast income minus all the nonsense.

Thanks for that correction. Many of us have been using the $2800 figure as "guaranteed income" but I'm sure the cash flow at the site is down. I hope the panhandling take is way down. Guess he needs a job. Still.

Again, Gene, come clean and people will help. Most people are honest, and have no use for liars and thieves.

I am sure that the $1753 SS sum would be correct. Uncle Sam can check on that. The outside money made from the websites could be anything Steinberg says it is. He never was truthful with his co-hosts about how much money was brought in. He likes to be cagey about that so he can keep it all to himself.

$1000 is still a goodly amount for some websites dedicated to the paranormal and Apple products. I am betting he took in more than a thousand and kept that information secret. No sense letting the co-hosts or the taxman in on that.

Hm $1753 joint Social Security eh? I missed that, thank you for correcting.

I've got to think the Paracast income is dropping. I do not relish the thought but, he might actually need to beg in order to be able to pay for that motel room soon.

Or at least drive more and more regularly for Lyft / Uber while he still can.

Nobody needs to beg.

Even if income from the Paracast is zero he could simply do a minimum wage job and top it up to a decent amount - the whole Uber/Lyft thing is a just a reason for him to justify having a car which is a luxury not a necessity.

As Gene has said before he doesn't want to do any "low level" jobs because they are beneath him - that includes working in an Apple Store (which I wouldn't consider low level) but Gene has some weird standards despite being a beggar.

When times are tough people re-evaluate what is needed and what isn't, they cut back and budget in accordance with that.

Gene's solution is to ask other people to pay and he has been doing it for at least 12 years.

I also think Gene probably wouldn't be good enough to get a job in an Apple Store as a salesperson, let alone a job in the Genius bar (which is what I believe he specifically said was beneath him - it's a good excuse if you know you couldn't even get the job if you tried).

Although he calls himself a tech expert I have yet to see any evidence that supports it. He has (by his own admission) been hacked multiple times. I wouldn't want someone like that anywhere my computer if I was having problems.

It's possible he had some expertise back in the 1990s when the whole internet/computing industry was in its infancy.

That's when he used to write books and magazine articles (although they do seem to be very basic), but just like with Ufology it seems that Gene got left behind in the past and doesn't want to move on.

You took the words right out of my mouth, Ghost. He couldn't get a job at an Apple Store now for a few different reasons -- he's not the right look for them (I mean. Seriously. Would you buy something from the guy we saw in those pics?), he's woefully out of touch with technology now (I've been hacked before myself, but not because I put my friggin' personal info up on my Twitter feed!) and, honestly, his age would work against him. Age discrimination happens, and from what I've read/heard, it's pretty prevalent in the tech world.

His best bet would be to actually get out there and drive Uber/Lyft sunup to sundown until he can get an apartment, and once he does, and has some space to work quietly, find a work at home service call center job for his nights, and work Lyft/Uber during the day. Yeah, it'll suck. Working two jobs always does. But it's at least something he could do.

He also never declared his begging at all.
This is the part I find laughable. Whenever Steinberg starts spouting off about getting a lawyer to deal with ‘trolls lying’ about him, all anyone would need to do is bring up all that unreported income. Over all these years, just how much money has he taken in? I would worry more about the taxman than perceived trolls.

I see DE is still making friends and influencing people

"Well Hoaxland is back on DMR ... lol ... If Art Bell could get away with it, so can Don ( who refers to him as "Dick" throughout the episode )"

"Randall, do you have a point to make or is this simply your way of tweaking me? I have known DICK Hoagland for 30 years. If you were simply attempting to be shitty ... well buddy, you managed that well. If you don't like who I have on as a guest ... don't freaken listen ... but I don't need your cheap shots which is exactly what you just did."

There are older people in my local Apple Store and though ageism still exists many retailers are taking active measures to change that. You need to be hard working though and look like you are still alive rather than a Halloween prop.

In my opinion Uber/Lyft would not really be good jobs for Gene (assuming he is doing actual work for them which I very much doubt).

Let's say he really was working for them, I doubt anyone would want to get in a car with Gene at the wheel, unless they were trying to recreate the taxi cab scene from Ghostbusters.

At least in a retail setting he wouldn't be driving a two tonne killing machine with you in it.

Good on UTI Calgary if he is calling out Hoagland for being a moron who just makes crap up. Also find it laughable that Ecker would have him on his show. I suppose he gives personal friends a free pass if they are con artists. That's why he likes Gene.
