Does anyone remember the caper with Gene's disabled nephew? Didn't Gene imply he was a child? But really he was in his 30s? Gene raised money for him supposedly?

My memory is when Gene was soliciting funds for his sister-in-law's family, he wrote about the disabled son there, his nephew, in a way that the reader could have thought of the nephew as a child, when he was in fact older than that. I do not think he lied about his age, just omitted some details and made some word choices that you could argue were intended to arouse more sympathy. It's pretty subjective, from my memory of the notes. As The Shadow says you can find some of it at the UFO Trail blog. Some may have been posted earlier in this thread, too.

That nephew was I think an officer in Numis Gems, and somehow managed to run up a delinquent balance with Discover, raising some questions.

It's amazing how a guy who's always penniless continues to meet those 11 a.m. eviction deadlines every single week.

Every single day, according to him.

Man I did enjoy USI Calgary's recent reference to, "this melting pot of serious ufologists, paranormal investigators, researchers, con-artists, and media exploitation of the paranormal" on the Paracast forums.

I vote that replaces "The Gold Standard of Paranormal Radio" as the new slogan for the Paracast.

"This was once a rather good podcast about paranormal subjects, with a decent forum to follow. They asked hard-hitting questions of major influential figures in the various fields, without seeming bitter and burned out.In recent years it has become a toxic soup of bitter, burnt-out hosts who rarely acquire meaningful guests. In fact, they utilize their (frequently toxic) forum posters as guests/hosts who have little to add to the discussion. They seem subservient to forum members who pay for the 'paracast plus' service, inviting them on regardless of their knowledge or experience. It makes for poor listening. The primary host seems impervious to any criticism, even that given in the kindest and most constructive way. The secondary host has been criticized for loudly eating on-air, and denies it while continuing to speak through a mouthful of food. He also begrudges anyone who tries to profit from UFO knowledge, while being an author of many such books himself. This review is from a fan of many years! In the early days it was the best paranormal podcast out there. It's become a cheese grater to listen to, with one host caught up in the 'good ole days' and the other endlessly munching burritos. Either way, I don't recommend funding them in any way. I took my books by Chris to the used paperback store, and I never bought any of Gene's sci if novels because he just doesn't seem very creative.ILDR: It's time to put this bovine to pasture and hope it survives the long cold night."

an old review of the paracast from trail.

Create your online store today with Shopify

the store cost money to run. and it looks like GS has to set it up not Anders.
Anders may be just an assistant.
as for the site it may be down because Gene never pays for anything and maybe Anders bailed who knows.

I don’t think there’s any mention of “Anders” by name now - only of the “sales/marketing person” or suchlike? Curious - but doubtless predictable. Gene’s last mention of the store was that he was “waiting” for it to be completed - another indication of his dependency life-style. He certainly doesn’t have any money to pay someone to work on it and he’s not going to do any of the heavy lifting himself ...... “heavy grifting” he certainly can do !

As Above So Below

Randall's incessant blaguering consistently reaquaints us with his haughty footprint on that forum...Perhaps GS is literally ergophobic or likely has a fondness for spending money as fast as he gets it...I have a friend like that, who cannot save a dime, and frequently gets himself in a bind by not saving money...

Lol I had not come across ergophobia (fear of work) - perfect description of Schemey's pathology.
