Haunted Dolls

Pediophobia is an irrational fear of dolls. Some theorists hold that it's simply an extension of Pedophobia which is the fear of small children. Still others hold that it is a true phobia unto itself and more properly called automatonphobia. The latter is an irrational fear of life-like humanoid figures including dolls, mannequins, dummies, robots, etc.

With the sheer number of people experiencing at least some degree of automatonphobia, one has to wonder if the fear is truly irrational. Dolls are the earliest known toy dating back to Egypt 2000 BCE. Yet, dolls were not solely used as playthings. They were often used as effigies in ritual magick, idol worship and to house the souls of the dead. If the idea of a doll being possessed by a discarnate soul or entity isn't creepy enough, consider what is being implied with the fear of midgets and of the fearful representation of 'little green men', smalls Greys, trolls, etc.

This is Annabelle pictured in her glass case with renowned demonologist Lorraine Warren. Annabelle is perhaps the most famous and documented case but is by no means the only one. (Chucky, though inspired by Annabelle and a few others...is not included)hqdefault (1).jpg

Okiku doll

A mysterious doll possessed by the spirit of a child has captured the curiosity of people across Japan for decades. The legendary Okiku doll, named after the girl who long ago used to play with it, is a 40-centimeter (16-in) tall kimono-clad figure with beady black eyes -- and hair that grows.

The Okiku doll has resided at the Mannenji temple in the town of Iwamizawa (Hokkaido prefecture) since 1938. According to the temple, the traditional doll initially had short cropped hair, but over time it has grown to about 25 centimeters (10 in) long, down to the doll's knees. Although the hair is periodically trimmed, it reportedly keeps growing back.

It is said that the doll was originally purchased in 1918 by a 17-year-old boy named Eikichi Suzuki while visiting Sapporo for a marine exhibition. He bought the doll on Tanuki-koji -- Sapporo's famous shopping street -- as a souvenir for his 2-year-old sister, Okiku. The young girl loved the doll and played with it every day, but the following year, she died suddenly of a cold. The family placed the doll in the household altar and prayed to it every day in memory of Okiku.

Some time later, they noticed the hair had started to grow. This was seen as a sign that the girl's restless spirit had taken refuge in the doll.

In 1938, the Suzuki family moved to Sakhalin, and they placed the doll in the care of Mannenji temple, where it has remained ever since.

Nobody has ever been able to fully explain why the doll's hair continues to grow. However, one scientific examination of the doll supposedly concluded that the hair is indeed that of a young child.

This is a very old doll, 250 years old and said to have the soul of a gypsy woman trapped inside...

Letta The Gypsy Doll
is estimated to be about 250 years old now. It was discovered in an abandoned building in 1972 by the Australian Kerry Walton. The building was rumored to be haunted.

The dolls certainly looks creepy, but is it haunted? Well it’s owner claims it to be. Apparently the weather whenever the doll is taken outside, and dogs bark aggressively whenever they are near it. Kerry Walton says he is physically unable to get rid of the doll because of some kind of unknown force preventing him. He brings the doll everywhere with him.

The doll is made with real human hair. This is said to be the hair of the Romanian gypsy who created it 250 years ago. Her soul is thought to be trapped inside the doll. One thing we do know it that it was created in Eastern-Europe around 250 years ago. Of all the haunted dolls, this one really creeps me out.

50c576ea49b73e84e48eb4b89721bcc0--old-dolls-creepy-dolls.jpg Does anyone remember this horrid thing? Her name was 'Little Miss No Name' but my cousin and I called her simply "The Doll". She belonged to my cousin's older sister who had her from childhood. This diabolical spawn of nightmares terrorized my cousin and I when we were children. Of course it may just been our imagination running wild but she caused us many sleepless nights!

I am not afraid of my dolls and toys and I still have many of them, I even collect the old ones. Though I totally believe evil spirits can possess anything including a doll

We probably gave as good as we got...having, on various occasions, hid her arms & legs, buried her, threw her in the septic drain and set her on fire.

A spirit can attach itself to any object it can easily identify with.
Buildings, dolls and other toys, pianos, pictures, furniture and more.
I do not see how a spirit can become trapped inside an inanimate object though.

Maybe it's not trapped but desires to be there. Not saying I believe that...just offering an alternative.

Nothing like a decent 'cult' movie... I especially love the old ones, better still if they are B or C rated movies... some of them are so wacked out of this world stuff....

This is an old 1960s move with Jane Fonda called Barbarella and a close childhood friend of mine absolutely freaked out when she saw it...

All we had to do was look at her, move slowly towards her and click our teeth and keep on clicking and she would have a fit and freak out big time... nothing like a bit of emotional cruelty towards your friends eh... lol...
