Hurricane Michael looms large: New satellite image shows storm barreling towards Florida as it's expected to reach Category 4 by landfall amid fears it will be the 'worst ever'
- It is expected to approach Category 4 strength when it makes landfall in Northern Florida on Wednesday
- Michael was located about 235 miles south-southwest of Apalachicola as of 8pm on Tuesday
- Mandatory evacuation orders went into effect Tuesday for some 120,000 residents and tourists
- Florida Governor Rick Scott called Michael a 'monstrous hurricane' and declared a state of emergency for 35 Florida counties from the Panhandle to Tampa Bay
- The governors of Georgia and Alabama have also declared a state of emergency
- Forecasters said it could potentially be the most powerful storm to strike the Panhandle in at least a decade
- Forecasters have warned that parts of Florida's Big Bend area could see up to 12 feet of storm surge, while Michael also could dump up to a foot of rain over some Panhandle communities as it moves inland
- Airports in Pensacola and Destin-Fort Walton Beach have announced they will shut down from midnight

Well my friend was driving home 30 minutes ago in this terrible weather and a huge oak tree is blocking his road home in a different city near by, he is driving back to my house to stay there until the storm passes and the roads are clear...I'm still at work for now, there's a road I take home that has the Yadkin river running under and he told me the river was rising and hitting the top of the bridge now...ugh might be a rough drive home today for me...We still have the power flashing off and on and now they said over the radio tornado watches and warnings in this area...

I just got home a few minutes ago, trees down everywhere, my main route home I couldn't drive, trees were laying across the road...I had to go through town and around the long way, then another tree across the road, had to take the third option, almost an hour drive around the farming area where there aren't many trees lol...
