Looking back that the Stargate franchise I saw SG-1 as an awesome series...I think they should not have done the Ori story arc though, that was a great idea but should have been saved for a new series that could unpack it for six to eight seasons...
Then Atlantis came along and I thought it was awesome too, but it got a bit stale and they kept changing the story arcs too much and killed off one too many main characters, I think they lost focus...The Michael story arc was awful and a big distraction from the main focus of the show, IMO...
Stargate Universe to me was a real refreshing change and I absolutely loved the first season, so many unknowns and struggles to survive billions of light years from earth...I think what killed that show was lazy writing, the Drone story arc killed the show IMO...The Stargate franchise had enough of the replicators in both SG-1 and Atlantis, there was no need to revisit machines as enemies in SGU, not when there was such an open option for creativity in designing new and wondrous aliens or possibilities since the Destiny ship was so far from our own galaxy...The possibilities are endless and they go with mechanical drones in far too many episodes...
Stargate Universe can come back in many ways and they could savage that series given the way it was closed and it can be make into something greater than it finished off as...The Atlantis series could have came back but too much time is passing for the original characters to return, Atlantis would have to be written differently to work...Of course an all new series is always welcomed too...
