I do see your point.True and nowhere in the name nor in the core topics are there any mention of religious discussion...Nope nada, zilch and there is a good reason for that, religious discussion is not much welcome here...That being said you have simply found a back door like a carpet bagger might have found if he were to visit someone's home and walk around the place...A back door to promote your religious beliefs because apparently also allegedly ties in with a secondary topic, 'End Times and Conspiracies' which does not necessarily have to be religious based but could be...So it is you 'John' who are stretching the limits of tolerance since you wish to discuss something that is not very welcomed to be discussed here, religion, since it is not a part of our core topics nor directly included in our secondary topics...At his point now you can thank me, for the toleration and kindness I have shown you in allowing this thread to continue, so think about that before chastising another member for pointing out relevant facts tied to all this you claim to hold so dear yet get wrong time and time again...
You're welcome...
...
It is true, there are no references to religion, but this subject according to my opinion is religion based.
It 'draws you in like a magnet' towards biblical philosophies. Pretty much like having a free cup of tea at Sainsbury's.
(before getting the boot at the door for not buying anything)
Or what is put on the back of my MOT certificate (no...no it has affected me)
I can understand that religious debates can cause 'heated' discussions but perhaps it may be better to put in the main topic:- "No religious content please"
Some forums actually do welcome religious debate and it is easy to be drawn into religious discussions without realising.
People are robotic and as a computer engineer, I was nearly forced into buying clear round rimmed spectacles, torn jeans and trainers after frequently being told that I did not look like a computer engineer.
I remember......
(here we go...get the sleeping bags)
That European City Guide
European City Guide scam?
Yours truly was supping his tea before his morning days work when the phone rang.
It was the European City Guide with an ever so nice lady who wanted to know if I wanted some free advertising.
Anything free and I am there!
I got the pages to sign which were about twenty pages of manuscript and an end bit that needed my signature.
Of course you literally cannot read twenty pages of small print so you just sign for your free advertising.
Well....three month went by and I got a letter from them in Barcelona. The cat got a mouth full of choking corn flakes as they wanted £4,000 from me for advertising my trade in Barcelona. Once I had paid up, there would be another £12,000 pending for a contract that I unintentionally signed!
I had also given them so called permission to design my advert for the European market.
I thought:- "naw...a mistake...I will phone up that nice lady and explain to her."
Got some nasty Espanio who gave me a right telling off, ending with:- "WE WILL SEE!!"
Weeks went by and I got my first bill and more or less told them to put it where the monkeys put their nuts ( in their pockets) as I do not even travel to Derby never mind Spain.
It did not go down too well as I got one reminder after another .
The worst thing was that they were situated in Basque Country and I had just been watching John Wayne with Mexican bandits!! Their offices were in Barcelona
Well....the demands had stopped and the money recovery department was now in force and they were even worse. It was a good job that my bladder held!
I was looking out for bandits peering through our glass.
Then the threat of court action was sent to me.
Great..fantastic....I had been watching Columbo and knew my words!
Blah..blah..blah...blah...and the court session will be held in Barcelona.
Oh great a holiday, I was looking forward to that. It takes me just a day to drive down there!
I don't need to speak Spanish...I know good sign language.
Tense moments my friends...very tense indeed!
The weeks followed and I got a request to collect a package from the post office. It was a nice sunny day and I was carrying this two stone in weight box wondering what it was?
(before my pyschometry days)
Thought it was a bomb. Thinking if that exploded it would probably look like Hope and Glory when the blitz came!
So I placed the box at the end of the garden and phoned the police.
Words were:- "We are not opening it either!!!"
I went to Derby that afternoon and when I arrived back home, there was an army truck outside my house with the words :- "Bomb Disposal Unit" on the white van with these soldiers waiting.
You know what it was???
Four directories from the European City Guide containing my advert.
People normally love me as this was unusual (i think)
They never did pursue their court action and dropped the case because it was a scam.
Many just gave up fighting but I pursued my fight and they knew that they had no case and had never actually taken anyone to court.
You can wake up now....
The theme of the story here is human nature. Oh yer technically I was wrong but it was a kind of trap. I am not saying that there is a trap here, but we all get sucked in occasionally
(have you done)
Yep

George
