Your sure about that are you ? He is ex MoD they are not going to let him get away with giving out UFO info. He maybe just a stooge or a Government plant sent out to deceive true believers.

Hi Auggie, I agree with your sentiment of "stooge or plant" with Nick. At first I was under the impression that he was just an apparently nice guy that , though he had been in position to give us some real insight into the opaque world official governmental UFO inquiries and educate us on loads of obscure cases that we've not heard of... but over time it has become clear that not only is he stubbornly noncommittal as to whether he believes that he has come across anything that could only be described as tangible toward the ETH question or not ... also in the last 24 years or whatever amount of years it is since he arrived on the scene, can anyone point me to the facts or cases that Nick has told us about that we didn't already know? ... I can't! .. In fact, as someone already commented, his little 'insights' always seem to be about the same couple of cases [Rendlesham and Cosworth] both of which we were already familiar.
Fact is, that the guy's ticket on the lucrative UFO circuit is that he was the UK's spooky Mulder for three years, and that all UFO related reports and incidents went through him for three years or so, which stands to reason to me that he must have been privy to an absolute plethora of cases with various degrees of interest, From nadirs to head-slappers! . But nothing about these from Nick as far as I can see ?... And the same goes for the subject of this very thread, how many good pictures must he have been sent to gawp at? ... but yet again, all we seem to hear Nick mention is " the missing Calvine picture, and this one below that he found interesting....

.... that to be quite frank .... could of course be real, but gives me the impression of a picture of a Frisbee in flight.

... so yes my friend, i'm personally not so sure about Nick Pope!

Cheers Auggie.

Fratty and out of touch.
I only recently found out about the Phobos 2 Incident, in which the Russian probe allegedly disappeared after spotting a rather large UFO (possibly as much as 20 kilometers in length) while attempting to investigate Mars' moon, Phobos, in 1989.

Regardless of where you sit on the fence with this occurrence, you have to admit it's a pretty significant anomaly!

Some say its a shadow but that's a pretty big shadow to be casting ?

I don't know, the title "UFO Fancy" seems to have a somewhat patronizing ring to it. :angry8:

It seems to be representative of those times I have seen a lot of these and they all have outrageous stories headlines to keep the readers interested and buying , one even claimed Aliens had destroyed an entire town in the USA. I think they folded not long after they lost all credibility with that one.

Hi Sheltie, hope you are well old friend.
We covered this one not long ago, ...interesting at first look isn't it. But when you delve a little you can see why it's not the biggest story in the genre, as it would be if the incident was as claimed. But it seems pretty sure to be no more than a case of a couple of promising probes that broke down at two different times. And the two anomalous photos aka the shadow and the approaching giant space craft... weren't anything to do with aliens or UFO's ... but in fact were pixilation-bleed and Phobos' own shadow .

Hi Auggie, that's a great old picture ... do you have any accompanying info? ... I've just had a quick search and can only come up with copies that simply state that it is "an old UFO picture".
Where's it from?... Who took it? etc.
.... Haven't seen it before but it does remind me of a few other old and generally unexplained old photos such as ....

... it's sure great looking, but I have a few reservations about it's authenticity ... mainly because of the lack of info of course, but also because the 'object's' clarity itself seems to be at odds with the slight fuzziness of the rest of the scene.... But of course i'm no expert and would love to know more about this great looking picture. ... Which by the way is another source of doubt in my mind... I mean, it's such a good looking old picture, so why isn't it even more famous than the Trent pictures? ;)

Cheers Auggie.

This is the kind of UFO photo that has a lot more gravitas to my mind, ... it has been submitted for official investigation to the governmental debunkers... received the usual brush-off, including the all too oft ridicule of a couple of seemingly erstwhile sober pilots... and then 50 or so years later revisited by more open minded examiners...

The pilot of a twin engine C-47 "Skytrain" transport aircraft of the USAF captured this reddish object on photograph in July 1966 at 11:00am. The aircraft was flying over the Rocky Mountains, at about 40 kilometers South-West of Provo, Utah.

The Condon commission, which concluded that UFOs are no worth of scientific investigations, did analyze the negative at the time and concluded that the photograph shows an ordinary object thrown in the air.
