Studying UFOs on individual case basis is just thrill seaking and lazy entertainment
Yup. It's just a form of entertainment for most, including me. I admit it's a hobby interest. But tell that to the innumerable individuals and groups who study all sorts of Fortean phenomena and take themselves so very seriously.
Quarelling with sceptics is huge step backward for UFO research. Complete waste of precious resources
Skeptics come in many flavors. I am skeptical but not closed minded and have no point to prove. There have been far too many kooks and hoaxes and frauds for me to be otherwise. If someone wants to do some 'serious research' into the topic, whatever that approach may be, then I say have at it and don't let my layman's opinions stop you. Publish the findings in a peer reviewed journal and let peers chew on it. That's what they're there for. But if presented with some 'evidence' you'll get my opinion, and if it isn't respected I don't care as long as it's polite.
As for wasting precious resources - studying photographs falls into that category also. What can be gained from it other than conclusively proving a hoax? Compelling yes. Proof, no.
