This is outrageous and dangerous, it would shift the war to a direct confrontation between Russia and NATO...This craziness must stop...

Emmanuel Macron warns the West has not 'ruled out' putting boots on the ground in Ukraine to fight the Russian invasion

President Emmanuel Macron has warned that the West could have to send ground troops to Ukraine to fight Russia if it wants Moscow to be defeated.

The French premier announced new steps to boost Kyiv in its battle against Vladimir Putin's troops as the war in Ukraine enters its third year including sending missiles and bombs to the country.

Speaking after hosting a meeting of two dozen European leaders to discuss Ukraine, Macron said there was consensus that 'the defeat of Russia is indispensable to security and stability' on the continent.

Russia, he said, was showing a 'more aggressive attitude not just in Ukraine but in general'.

While there was 'no consensus' on the sending of Western ground troops to Ukraine, 'nothing should be excluded. We will do whatever it takes to ensure that Russia cannot win this war,' he said.

Call neo-cons. That's their idea. They've been at it since fall of CCCP.

Problem with politicians is that when they make a wrong decision, and when it is obvious that it doesn't work, they double down to make it right.

There are some signs that negotiations are possible.

Zelensky went to Saudi Arabia, and Saudis offered themselves as intermediaries.

As it can be seen from this CNN page Zelensky has a range of problems: he failed to recruit 500,000 new soldiers he said he needed, he fired his minister of defence, all NATO countries turned down sending troops in, funding from US is having its own problems, Russians took Avdivka and are now taking more villages, apparently Russians are amassing around big city of Kharkov.

On the end of the day Ukraine has 40 M people, while Russia has 140 M.

I am trying to remember when and where but ultimately some that were under Marshal Ney wound up on the Texas frontier, big furry hats and all
1812, when Napoleon invaded Russia. Estimates vary 400k - 650k, only 40k came back home.

Didn't know they ended up in Texas ;-) ?

Putin makes direct threat to NUKE the West as he accuses NATO and the US of 'preparing to strike' Russia in his annual address to the nation

Vladimir Putin has made a direct threat to nuke the West as he accused NATO and the US of 'preparing to strike' Russia in his annual address to the nation. The Russian president, 71, said: 'They, NATO and America, are active in other parts of the world, of course, and they continue to lie there, to deceive.

'They are preparing to strike our territory and, using the best possible forces, the most effective forces to do so. But we remember the fate of those who try to invade our territory and of course their fate will be much more tragic than anything we could face.'

Putin repeatedly lauded Russia's vastly modernised nuclear arsenal in his speech and added as a warning to the West: 'They have to understand that we also have weapons, weapons that can defeat them on their own territory. 'Of course all this is very dangerous, because it could actually trigger the use of nuclear weapons. Do they not understand that?'

The Russian despot also chillingly assured that 'strategic nuclear forces are in a state of full readiness for guaranteed use'.

He also told NATO countries that their threats have created a 'real' risk of nuclear war if they sent troops to Ukraine, adding that Russia must strengthen its western military district after Finland and Sweden's admission to the Atlantic alliance as Finland has a long land border with northwest Russia.

'They should eventually realise that we also have weapons that can hit targets on their territory. Everything that the West comes up with creates the real threat of a conflict with the use of nuclear weapons, and thus the destruction of civilisation,' Putin added.

'Haiti will go hungry soon' as looting sparks food shortage crisis and society 'plunges into chas' - with experts warning 'the country is falling apart' as 'Barbecue' gang leader's thugs take control

Haiti 'will go hungry soon', it has been warned, as looting sparks a food shortage in the Caribbean country where out-gunned police are battling rampaging gangs.

Despite Haiti's government on Thursday extending a state of emergency and nighttime curfew by a month to try and curb the violent gang attacks, US government officials fear that law and order could collapse within hours.

Meanwhile, Haiti's main port was forced to close - days after thousands of inmates were broken out of two prisons, swelling ranks of gangs already enforcing their control of much of the nation - including the capital city.

Port-au-Prince has been paralysed in a fierce battle for political power, with Jimmy 'Barbecue' Cherizier - an influential gang leader in Haiti - having warned of civil war and 'genocide' unless embattled Prime Minister Ariel Henry resigns.

Henry travelled to Kenya last week to negotiate a UN-backed multinational police mission to stabilise his country. However, as he attempted to fly back to Port-au-Prince on Tuesday, he was prevented from landing by gang attacks on the airport.

He landed in the US territory of Puerto Rico instead, where he is believed to remain.

Are the thousands of Chinese 'migrants' flooding into the U.S. really a sleeper army of spies and soldiers preparing for war?

(Excerpts)

Since the beginning of the U.S. government’s fiscal year in October, the U.S. Border Patrol has already apprehended more than 21,000 Chinese migrants. In the key border sector south of San Diego, more Chinese are crossing than Mexicans. Many of these arrivals insist they are no different from any other asylum seekers — fleeing joblessness and economic decline, and seeking political and religious freedoms.

U.S. politicians and officials accept that this may well be the driving force for at least some of the migrants. However, they also fear Beijing is attempting to exploit the chaos on the border by sneaking in Chinese who will do its ruthless bidding once they have been allowed to settle in the U.S. by a hopelessly flawed immigration system.

Given that both Democrat and Republican politicians have already expressed severe alarm about devious behaviour by Beijing in the U.S., many are unwilling to give the newcomers the benefit of the doubt. ‘I’m not saying China is going to invade the United States but, if we were to defend Taiwan, you have to think this is part of some plan or strategy — you’d be foolish not to,’ said Mark Green, Republican chairman of the House committee on Homeland Security, in Congress.

____________

Concern is undoubtedly growing and was recently fuelled by Bret Weinstein, a controversial writer and evolutionary biologist, who reported encountering deeply suspicious signs of Chinese government involvement during a visit to the Darien Gap region on the Panama-Colombia border. Plagued by poisonous snakes, raging rivers and armed robbers, this notoriously dangerous jungle has become a bottleneck for migrants heading north.

The Panamanian government has set up transit camps for them, including at least one specifically for Chinese citizens, said Weinstein. While he and his companions were permitted to enter other camps and film the occupants, they were denied entry to the Chinese one. Its inmates were mainly young men and, when Weinstein approached some as they ventured out to buy provisions, he found them wary and hostile. ‘It’s not a friendly migration,’ concluded Weinstein.
