I don't know......I'd say they are not needed and I'd probably trust the camel more. The water can be as much as 100 to 250 meters below the surface. But then as I said the entire earth is screwed if its bad to live over groundwater.
It looks extremely shallow on the central plateau in Tasmania.

If you are talking about Tasmania in much of the central plateau it would be between 2 to 10 meters.

Is this the area you live in?......yes it would be very easy to find water around here.

Yes this is where I live . That's interesting to know I must tell everyone.
I know a bloke who reckons he is a water diviner. He was bragging about it one day and said he can do it blindfolded. Even to a bucket of water. So he set up a bucket in his backyard, walked across the yard and put on a blindfold. Then preceded to hunt for the bucket. He got really close to where the bucket was. I say was because as soon as he covered his eyes I moved the bucket about 20m away. He went directly to where he last saw it. Which was out by 20+m

Doing it blindfolded isn't a trick at all....unless you are driven into an area blindfolded that you've never been to before. Even then there would be dead give aways to it.

I never called him a clown.....I used it in the OP. If it sounded like I meant him then I'm sorry....however, it wasn't meant that way and it was also after the fact.
You do have to tell him that he lives above groundwater.....especially if he is in the town in the above picture.
